Could be: (since I'm not familiar with your car/truck here's a couple things to look for/at.)
- Loose shock absorber
- Loose spring shackle
- Loose/broken spring
- Very worn wheel bearings (they'd have to be VERY bad though)

Of course, the above assumes you're pretty sure the noise is coming from he bottom of the vehicle?
Jack the vehicle up using stands. Put a bar under the tire while it's off the ground and lift the tire and see if you can see/hear what's making all the noise. Be careful doing this as the vehicle is jacked up. But if the wheel is loose enough, you should be able to see/hear where the noise is coming from.

While is my 2007 chevy uplander rear end so noisy?

Could be the exhaust system hitting the frame or body of vehicle when you hit a bump. There should be some wear marks where the pipe is hitting.

Why does it bump and bang out of balance?

I had a front loading washer (not Kenmore) that bumped, banged, and walked all over the floor. Called a service tech. The balancers are made of concrete and one of them was loose. Ended up making a mess as the balancer that was loose finally broke and we had chipped concrete dust everywhere. Not pretty!!! Ours was covered under warranty.

How to access the rear shocks topside? banging noise going over small bumps, sounds like something may be loose.

Check the exhaust mounts first in the rear these maybe broken.
The tops of the shocks are accessed through the trunk area.

Saab 93 - noisy when going over bumps on the road.

Have you tried driving over a bump whilst also applying the brakes? (Right foot on gas, left gently on brake - with no one behind you!) If the noise goes away, then it could be the brake pads that are not fitted correctly. Only posting this, as this just happened to mine...the mechanic took it over bumps and noise was there. Applied brakes whilst going over bump, noise went away. Replaced badly fitted rear pads (had been bodged by another garage) and the problem was solved.

I think that the rear passenger sider shock absorber is broken. When I drive my car, it makes a metal banging noise, especially when I go over bumps. Is this really the problem? And if so, how much would...

it doesnt mean its the shock if its banging noise its probably just the top plate big differense $$$ top plate 40$ 1 hour labour hope its a fix and a fixya for me thank you pierre

Banging noise from rear of bmw 316 e36

It could be your subframe as well big problem with E36's. Also you can check your Rear Shock Mounts in the trunk by removing the carpet, they are under the speakers. Also check your brake pads, the little shim could have fallen off causing your brake pad to rattle over bumps. And check all your heat shields.
