I am assuming that your sent line 'admin and password', refers to a wifi modem unit and that ADMIN is the 'admin-word' which you need to type in the first space and PASSWORD is the 'password', needed to access the settings of you router. One you are in to the router settings page, you can chose your own words for admin and password. but write them down otherwise you will be stuffed and locked out.
1) plug into your router (no wireless)
2) use IE, chrome, ect to go to your default gateways address (192.168.1.1 or something)
3) enter username and password (hopefully default login info applies (usually admin, admin admin, password or admin,"blank" or something)
4) go to the wireless tab and set up name of network (SSID)
5) save or apply settings
6) set up password type and actual password (i reccommend WPA WPA2 or WPA mixed or the likes)
7) save or apply settings
8) hook all up normal and test
Reset your router back to it's factory settings by holding the reset button for about 5 seconds. I have provided a list of the most popular router brands. If it does not work you may need to google what your specific model's default IP address/default username/default passwords are, for example search for "Encore ENHWI-2AN3 default IP address" The default login info can change, it can depend on where you obtained your router. If you purchased it yourself from a store then the standard defaults should work. If you obtained your router from your Internet Provider you may need to contact your service provider. It also may depend whether it's an old or new model router as well. And you may need to press and hold the reset button on your router several times before it actually clears. Make sure you have a wired connection then once you have accessed your router simply run the Setup Wizard. Set your SSID as something you'll remember like "Mavericks Network" and your Password can be something like your phone number for example 3109876543

Is the installation software being installed on an account with administrator privileges? If not, log off and log back on with an account that has admin privileges. If your account has admin privileges, and the install asks for the password, and you know you have not set such a password, pressing the enter key may skip this problem.
