How often should you have your hair cut? My hair salon said I should be coming in once a month but that sounds ridiculous. Are they just trying to get more money out of me?

I don't know about once a month - that sounds a bit too often, but it really is recommended to cut your hair every 6 weeks. This cuts off any split ends and damaged hair and generally gives a more healthy and robust look to your hair

Do you think short hair styles can look feminine? I really want to cut my hair but dont just want to look like a guy!

Short hair on women can be very feminine if you get the style and cut right. Just look at Anne Hathaway, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keyes for a few examples of high profile women who have chopped their hair short recently.

Longer layers on top will make your short hair look fuller and more feminine.

My hairdresser always cuts my hair dry. She says she prefers to do it that way but all my friends say its not a good way to do it. Anyone know which is better?

There are definite advantages to cutting hair when it's wet and generally this is the method that most hairdressers use. But cutting hair when it's dry can make it easier to find the split ends and it gives a more realistic sense of the hair length.

If it really bothers you, ask your hairdresser to try cutting your hair when it's wet. If she/ he refuses then it shows a lack of flexibility. After all, you are the customer.

Is it easier to cut hair when its wet or dry?

It's definitely easier to comb and de-tangle hair when it's wet and you get a better sense of the natural fall of the hair when it's wet. It's just much easier to work with than dry hair, so even if you aren't going for a full hair wash at the salon, make sure you ask them to spray your hair wet when you get it cut.

The best thing to do is to look at pictures of celebrities, http://www.stylelist.com has a lot of pictures and tips on how to get your hair cut, they have guides for how to get it cut depending on the shae of your face. Also here's a short guide on short curly hair: http://www.latest-hairstyles.com/curly/short.html

I need instructions for trimming longer hair. How do I trim without cutting too much off? I will be cutting my own hair. The instruction booklet only shows short hair.

Take a comb and pull the hair out as long as you want it and run the trimmer over the top of the comb... go from top to bottom or you'll loose more than you want. It's always a better idea to go to someone else that can cut your hair, though.
