Indesit KDP60C Cooker Thermal cut in? A few days ago whilst we were cooking, there were electrical sparks visible from behind one of the controls in the top panel, and then the cooker circuit tripped out....

Not familiar with this one, but I have repaired many things like this. One of the components like a switch or relay has shorted out inside. A contact that turns the fan on has burnt shut. Sounds like you have found some info on this unit. See if there is any kind of diagram that shows what path the poser to the fan takes, and what component it passes through. That will be your culprit. The thermal switch should only activate if it gets too hot or overloaded, then it will shut the fan off.

My WP pressure cooker won't turn on, at 1st you could jiggle the cord and it would turn on but now that does not work either. Is it a bad cord or he prongs it connects into?

Without the device in front of me i can't say which part is the problem. I would suggest first checking the continuity of the cord with a voltmeter to see if that's the problem. if so, replace the cable. If it's the internal part of the pressure cooker, take it into the shop for repairs.

I lost my user guide for my Hamilton Beach programmable crock pot. I was wondering if I program something for 8 hours on low and I am not home after 8 hours, does it automatically switch to warm or do I...

The Use and care Guide for your Hamilton Beach 33966 6-Quart Slow Cooker can be downloaded here:

See page 5 for programming information.

At the end of the programmed cook time the slow cooker will automatically switch to Warm setting.

After 14 hours total run time the slow cooker will shut off.

I have a mirro matic pressure canner model 0406 with a jiggler pressure gauge. how do you know when pressure is reached and how to maintain that pressure for correct time?

I too have a Mirro 0406 that my mother gave me some 25 years ago. I LOVE it and use it every year! Fortunately, she gave me the manual along with the canner. It states"When correct pressure is reached, control will jiggle and sputter. To reach the first jiggle in a small cooker may take less than 5 min, or less than 10 min, when canning. Large canner may take 45 to 60 minutes for the first jiggle when canning a full load. Count time from first jiggle and reduce heat so control jiggle about 1 to 4 times a minute for cooking (about 4 jiggles per minute when canning). Constant jiggling causes excessive loss of moisture: the occasional jiggle and a hissing sound indicates pressure is being maintained. (I just canned 14 quarts of green beans with my Mirro today 7/26/09 :) Congradulations on your Mirro canner, I hope you have many years of success with it. Good Luck, and Happy Canning!

Presto Pressure Cooker Model 606

I have an old presto. The single weight is usually a 15psi weight. Cooking times vary with different foods and you could easily find a guide on the internet. Usually use about an inch of water, place in food, cover, and heat on high until weight starts jiggling. This is when you turn down heat until weight only jiggles 2-3 times per minute. This is also when you start timing the cooking. Hope I've helped,
