unscrew the plate that holds the feed dogs and carefully pull out the threads and pieces of fabric. Brush it clean and then put back the plate. Next time when you are working with very flimsy fabrics or thick fuzzy ones like terry cloth use a tear away stabilizer between the feed dogs and the needle under your fabric and then afterwards tear it away. You can also use plain tissue paper with the same result. I also might add a starting piece to the garment I am working on so that the edge of the material doesn't get caught right away. It will work smoothly if the little piece of starter fabric gets you going and then afterwards you can cut it off.

SOURCE: My fabric won't advance.

Hi Jodyk...Remove your flatbed so you can access your bobbin area. Open the cover of the bobbin area. The shiny/bright components consist of the Bobbin, which snaps into the Shuttle Hook, which is contained in the Race. Immediately right of the Race is a pewter/matte silver colored lever. Press the lower portion of the lever to raise the Feed Dogs. Pressing the upper portion drops the Feed Dogs, and is commonly used to accomplish free-hand applique work......good luck my friend.

SOURCE: Feed Dog on Brother 270d stuck in up position

I finally figured this out. The feed dog switch in the back was not hitting anything when I moved it back and forth. There is a screw on the underside of the machine that I tightened. It seemed to do the trick. Thanks.

SOURCE: My 1034D Brother Serger foot raiser lever on

mine just did the same thing - i opened it up (you have to remove the light) and it's a small plastic piece that seems to be just glued into place to lift the pressure foot when it rotates... a bit disappointing - i will try glueing it back but i don't know if it will last for long. i am very disappointed!!!

Brother 8015 and the feed dogs don't move the material forward. The feed dogs go up and down though. How do I get it to work correctly?

Check that the stitch length is set at #2 or higher so the feed dogs will actually advance the fabric. Verify that the feed dogs have not been dropped, as for darning.

Feed dog button is stuck in the in position won't come out to raise feed dogs?

"FEED DOG BUTTON" ISN'T QUITE CLEAR. HOWEVER, THE FEED DOG IS CONTROLLED BY THE STITCH LENGTH. IF THE STITCH LENGTH IS SET TO ZERO THE FEED DOG WILL STAY BELOW THE PLATE AND THE MATERIAL WON'T MOVE.

Brother CS6000i with setting 00 for straight line stitch is making a left curve stitches instead going straight.

***Your feed dog under the pressure foot seems to be pulling on one side a little harder which indicates wear. It is likely to solve the problem by replacing the feed dog.
***Before you do this try to lower the pressure on the pressure foot. If the material you are sewing is thick it will have an effect on the pull of the feed dogs. The material you are sewing that you sent appears to be jeans material. It looks like it is thick and somewhat slippery.

Thread nesting below plate with material pulled down inside also.

you might check your upper and lower knives. If they have a chip out of them or are dull some material just will not feed

Manual for brother vx757 free please

A manual feed is used primarily in freehand embroidery, quilting, and shoe repair. With manual feed, the stitch length and direction is controlled entirely by the motion of the material being sewn. Frequently some form of hoop or stabilizing material is used with fabric to keep the material under proper tension and aid in moving it around. Most household machines can be set for manual feed by disengaging the drop feed dogs. Most industrial machines can not be used for manual feed without actually removing the feed dogs.

The feed dogs come up as soon as you start sewing again. Just make sure they're in the up position and start sewing.
