go start click on control panel. double click system. click on the hardware tab, then click on device manager. Select "DVD/CD-ROM drives" from the list of devices. Right click on the matshita that is listed. Uninstall and then click "okay" in the pop up that opens. This will uninstall the device from your system.
Now, close out all windows except for the control panel. Find and double click on "Add Hardware". Follow the prompts to autodetect the drive and that should take care of your problem
