How to open earpiece of UrbanEars Medis earbud
I have a pair of marshall minor headphones. They are essentially the same headphones, very similar design if not identical. I had a short occur just where the cable enters into the ear piece, i was devastated when this happened. they are a good pair of headphones and i didn't want to have to shell out on another pair.
To open the earpiece, i first removed the silicone ear-click thingy. if you look in the recessed space where this fits, you will notice a clear join between the two pieces of plastic. I inserted a razor blade into this join and after very little effort i managed to separate the two halves. In doing so i actually poked the back plate off as well, i did actually try to get this off but didn't trust myself enough with the razor blade to continue.
there is another layer of plastic covering the circuit board in the ear piece, which again i would attempt to remove via the recess where the silicone ear-click piece goes. i only had a short in the cable so i didn't go as far as getting to the circuit board.
the whole earpiece consists of at least four main pieces of plastic which are held together by a series of plastic pins. with a little Araldite/ strong superglue you would never know i had opened the earpiece.
i can't believe there is nothing online about fixing these headphones. it's a shame, they are good headphones which have now been saved from the bin.
