How To Re-Wax a Wood Deck for a Trotter Treadmill

Following are instructions on how to re-wax a wood deck for a Trotter treadmill and a list of materials needed for this procedure

Materials Needed for Re-Wax

  • 1 lb. of Trotter deck wax
  • Clothes iron (never to be used on clothing again)
  • Belt sander with 120 grit sanding belt
  • Vibrating sander with 250 and 400 grit paper
Pre-Existing condition: If your wood Trotter treadmill deck is worn down through the first ply, it cannot be re-waxed.
  1. Using a belt sander and 120-grit belt, gently sand in the same direction as the grain the glazed layer off the top of the deck until you have reached porous wood. If, while sanding, the first layer of ply has been sanded off, the deck can no longer be re-waxed
  2. Using a vibrating sander with 250-grit paper, sand the entire top surface of the deck until it is smooth and soft.
  3. After sanding with the 250-grit paper, continue sanding with 400-grit paper until completely smooth.
  4. Heat the clothes iron to its maximum temperature. Put a handful of Trotter deck wax on the center surface of the deck and place the preheated iron on top of it until the wax melts.
  5. Work the wax into the deck surface by pushing the melted wax across the deck with the iron. Add more wax as needed until the entire top surface of the deck is impregnated with wax.
  6. Apply just enough wax until the wood is saturated with wax.
Do NOT leave wax pooling on the surface of the deck.

Cybex 520t error 6

Replacement Parts for Fitness Exercise Equipment at SPORTSMITH
Error 6 is a motor over voltage error. Motor voltage exceeded 200 VDC for 200 milliseconds. This can be caused by a worn deck and belt due to a lack of routine maintenance. AKA adding wax between your deck an belt. You might be able to wax your machine and make the error go away. More than likely a new deck and belt will be needed. Using the link below and your model and serial number, you can find the needed items. In worse case scenario, you may also need a new motor control board.

I am getting a noise that increases with speed. I replaced the front roller so it should not be bearings. It is a growling noise could the motor be the problem? I have a Vision T9500 Ortho and I use wax to...

have you removed and cleaned the wax buildup off the rear roller? typically with the wax lubricant it will cause chunks to get caught in the rear roller and the grumbling sound is normally the irregular belt position as the wax buildup lifts and stretches the belt in places that it shouldnt.

Every motorized treadmill must need some regular type of servicing. What is the procedure? What do I need to do to keep my treadmill in good working order?

The main thing to do is keep the walk belt area clean of all shoe rubber and lint, vacuum the tread melt and edges regularly. Most treadmills have a wax lubricant in the walk belt, youcan purchase this lubricant at store that sell treadmills or you can do an on line search for treadmill lubricant. If you lift the belt and feel under the platform you should feel a slight waxy film, if not you should add wax as needed, some wax kits come with instructions, but if you just apply it to the platform area underneath the walk belt where you feet normally land when to step forward that should be fine, walk on the treadmill for a few minutes to spread the wax evenly on the underside of the belt, other than that there is no other maintenance needed.
