My whirlpool Refrigerator motor keeps running

I have a side by side whirlpool refrigeratror. One of the doors was not closed completed yesterday for about 12 hours. I found it our last night. I closed the door. But the motor seems running whole night last night. this morning I turned off the whole thing, emptied the freezer side, waited for about two hours to get all ice melted. Then I restarted it. It's been running for 3 hours now without stopping. Is there anything wrong?

Thanks.

I have a 2000 whirlpool frost free frig. although my house is always cool, all of a sudden the frig is running a lot.  My electric bill has been unusually high to boot, so I am wondering if this is the problem.
I have cleaned the grate which was gunked up with dog hair and other fuzzies but it is still running more often.
    Thanks

it turns off and on frequently, what's going on? is this something I need to worry about. I have turned down the temp, below recommended setting. Other than running frequently it seems to be keeping everything frozen and cold

I'm having the same problem. The motor keeps running and running without the defrosting time. The refrigerator is 12 years old, I know it could probably be the age of the refrigerator, but it was working so great a couple days ago and all of a sudden it went berserk. Any suggestions?

I picked up an older Whirlpool fridge, it freezes and cools but it wont stop running unless I turn it off. As soon as I move the thermostat it starts up again. Could it be the thermostat?

Keep an eye on the running time and temparture of the refrigerator. It will need time to return to normal cooling temps since the defrost and hot temps inside will take maybe a few more hours to reach normal. If not, get back with me and I will go through a step by step process on eliminations,  If so I will need age of fridge, Make and Models Numbers, Thanks Sea Breeze

Thanks, I am serarhing for the part that allows

Same thing happened to me. Ice built up on your door keeping it from opening completely. The motor stripped a gear when pressing the door against the ice. You have to either replace the motor or the whole door unit depending on which is available. I have not found the part yet.

Hmmmm, chunks? Are the doors properly aligned? Closing completely? dispenser chute door closed? if so may have frosted the airway to the refrigerator and blocked it. I would totally defrost it and check again.

Whirlpool Gold 25.4 cu ft side by side

After cleaning the lint you need to give the unit at least 24 hours to recuperate. If you try letting it run for 24 hours and it still doesn't work let me know if the compressor (the main motor) and the fan underneath is working and the fan in the freezer is working.

Ice Maker

I ASSUME THAT THE UNIT IS MAKING ICE BUT NOT DISPENSING IT.YOU NEED TO CHECK IF THE MOTOR THAT ROTATES TO DISPENSE ICE IS WORKING OK.THE BEST WAY TO DO THAT IS REMOVE THE ICE DRAWER COMPLETLY AND CLOSE THE DOOR AND LISTEN FOR A LOAD ROTATING NOISE.IF YOU DONT HEAR ANY OPEN THE DOOR AND TURN THE MOTOR SHAFT AND SEE IF IT TURNS FREELY.IF IT DOES NOT THAT IS YOUR PROBLEM GET THE MOTOR CHANGED.FEEL FREE TO ASK ANY OTHER QUESTIONS.GOODLUCK.MOHAMED

Refrigerator suction/vacuum noise, rear section when freezer door is closed

there is no suction system. flush your defrost drain tube with boiling water and a turkey baster. should get some pretty nasty sludge out and sound will go away.
