Question about Dell 2335dn Multifunction Laser Printer

In this particular case you want to use the "By-Pass Feeder". Open the first door where the toner cartridge goes. There are two sliders narrow them down to the width of the index cards with a few in-between them. Once you do this it should auto select them when you print as long as you tell the docement in the properties that it should select the by pass feeder. It must be selected in the document properties or you will be changing settings constantly for the printer. Please let me know if I need to explain in better detail.

SOURCE: load mpf paper
Your printer is set to default to the Main Paper Feeder, which is probably set for letter size paper. You must tell it to feed cards. On your Windows Desktop, left click mouse on START. left click on CONTROL PANEL, and left click on the PRINTERS icon. On the PRINTERS screen, RIGHT CLICK on your Dell printer icon. On the drop down menu, left click on PRINTING PREFERENCES. On the PRINTING PREFERENCES window, left click on the PAPER/QUALITY tab. Under TRAY SELECTION, choose the PAPER SOURCE where you want your business cards to feed from. Left click on APPLY button. Next, left click on the ADVANCED button. On the ADVANCED OPTIONS window, use the drop-down box next to PAPER SIZE to choose the paper size you want to feed. Press OK button. The PRINTING PREFERENCES window will now reappear. Left click APPLY, then OK buttons. After you have printed your cards, be sure to restore the printer defaults back to their original state, or the printer may jam because it must be programmed for the paper size being used. If you reload letter paper without resetting the paper size, the printer will think there is still card sized paper in the tray, and it will issue a jam or error code until the paper size is set properly.

in the tray where you put the paper, there are two pieces of plastic that site on the side ,,,,, bring them close to the paper as to touch the paper.
this way the paper cannot go left or right when loaded and now will go in straight.
this oughta do it.

Are you using the manual feed slot in front of the printer and setting the paper size properly in your software? 3x5 is supported by Dell so this should work.

Tips for a great answer:

Clearing credit card-sized paper jammed inside the printer
Credit card-sized and 4" x 6" sized paper must be loaded properly. If this media is not loaded properly, it will feed into the printer and will not exit. Credit card-sized paper should only be loaded in the ASF and in portrait orientation. 4" x 6" sized paper can be loaded in the ASF or cassette. But must be loaded portrait orientation.
If credit card-sized paper was loaded in landscape orientation in the ASF and did not eject (exit), please follow this procedure.
