Question about Panasonic AG-455 Camcorder

Panasonic AG-455 Problem

I have a Panasonic AG-455 camera.  The problem is that whenever I attempt to record I hear a loud noise.  Additionally, if I hit record/play I hear the noise and I can turn the camera upside down and the noise sound changes.  Whenever I start recording there is no noise for like 10 seconds.  Then it starts making the noise.  WHenever it makes the noise the video is bouncy.  Then if I connect the S-video up to the TV and press play, it makes the same noise and the video comes out "messed up."
I have already attempted to clean the heads several times and that did not fix the problem.  Does anyone have a idea??  I really like this camera!!

Ok.  I took the side cover off.. lol  Then I pulled the dust cover off of a VHS tape.  I hit play and heard the noise coming out the bottom where it pushes the reel down.  WHen I touch the metal cylandar thingy (Head?) the noise stops until I remove my finger.  Does anone know how to replace any of this stuff?  If so where do you find Panasonic parts for this camera model?

Ok when I spin the chrome cylandar thingy counterclockwise I head a simular noise to what I experience when I am recording/playing.

I just bought the same camera on ebay, and have essentially the same problem. Mine only shows black and white. I can record, but it's only in B&W and the noise is an eery cranking sound. This is otherwise a great looking camera and I would really like to know how to resolve the problem. When I rotate the head, that chrome thingy, it makes the cranking sound. I suppose it needs a new head, and some electronic thingamajig to fix the color

The noise is most likely bad bearings in the video head assembly. No longer available from Panasonic. The b/w recording problem is most likely caused by a bad video board inside the camera. Unfortunately, the video board is also no longer available.

Panasonic AG-EZ30 motor noise nothing moving

well if it uses a tape mechanism .It will only have 3 motors .LOADING, CAPSTAN and HEADS.If one of these is running without tape ,you should get an error of somekind of your screen .If there is no error from mech then noise is possibly an electrical whine from the LCD panel power supply and or main camera power supply .

Crossed polarity to Panasonic AG-455

If you did not damage the dc converter in the camera, you can check several micro fuses located on the regulator board. There are several diodes that assist in blocking reverse polarity applied to the camera. These diodes intentionally open these fuseable devices to protect the power supply and camera.
Hope this helps you,

Pretend record issue

I've had this happen with a Panasonic when I went back out into the cold after going into a warm, humid cafe for lunch. The drum had picked up some condensation, but the condensation detector didn't shut down the camera.

Any have the Panasonic ag-455 SVHS manual?

Hey I think it would difficult to find a manual for a AG-455, though being very similar to the AG-456 (which seems to be more popular) would you be happy with the manual for that model? I downloaded the AG-456 manual from somewhere last year but unfortunately can't remember from where. I do have the PDF file if you're interested though.. Would be happy to send to you if you're interested. Cheers
