Inverter IGBT failuair again& again

If you are continually replacing the inverters, there may be an external issue causing the failures.

If you are continually replacing IGBT's on the same inverter, then there is most likely a problem with the circuit controlling the IGBT's.

My proform 580 runs for 1/2 second, shuts of, and resets and will repeat this as many times that you push the start button

HI,
Your treadmill have problem with the motor control board. The motor control IGBT is faulty thats why its stars at high speed and shuts off immediately by sensing over current drain. The solution is replacing the motor control board or replacing the IGBT on the motor control board. To replace the IGBT you should have a through knowledge in electronics. If you need any more assistance feel free to contact me through FixYa.

When I put the key in, the treadmill belt goes really fast. Its like its stuck and I can't turn it down the knob keeps popping off. Do I need to get it serviced.

hi,
You have to check the Driver circuit board for the motor. There is motor control IGBT Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) in this board .If the IGBT is short then the treadmill will try to run at high speed without setting any value or witout pressing the start button. You have to check the OHMS between the seocnd and third of lead of the IGBT. If it shows less than 100 Ohms then the IGBT is short and you have to replace the same. Also you have to check the connection to the control pannel. Is there is any loose conatct. Remove the connection in the motor control board which go to the control pannel and reconnect it. Also check the speed sensor. In most of the treadmill you can find the speed sensor near the motor pully. Remove the speed sensor and clean it and the refix it. Remember one thing remove the power of the treadmill and leave it for 30 minutes then only oppen the treadmill. Because there is high voltage storage capacitors in the motor control board which will hold charge for some time even after the power is disconnected. i ahve added the picture of IGBT for your refference

ok

I have model 91811 chicago electric inverter. worked fine last time I used it,,, now it won't work. fan comes on, as well as power light, but will not arc.

Can you hear it "humming" inside. If not check fuses / wiring connections inside case. Failin gthat sounds like transformer has failed.

IGBT FAULT ERROR KEEPS OCURING ON DF6 340 IVERTOR INVERTOR HAS RUN 14 INTAKE FANS FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS NO OVERLOADS ARE TRIPPING ETC

E30 IGBT fault If an excessive current is applied at an IGBT (transistor in the power end stage), the output voltage
is switched off to protect the transistor.

Sounds like maybe a fan has gone bad and is drawing too much current.
Try disconnecting the fans and reconnecting one at a time. Also check
the fans to make sure they turn free and are not blocked.

Discontinued power IGBT

This is a fairly ordinary 200 Amp, 600 Volt IGBT. It might cost this much because they just aren't made anymore.

Unless you wanted this part for a specific reason that you didn't mention then I think you'd be better off buying some more modern 'bricks' with better performance.

I got five 600amp 1200volt IGBT's for $100 off ebay a few months ago.

An avenue of research that might be of interest to you would be SSTC or solid state telsa coils. Google searches will find you many SSTC sites with IGBT H bridge circuits and drivers basically doing the same thing as you are intending.
