power off the unit first then power on then go to map screen then tap the signal icon bar then wait for your unit to track signal then when you see 5 signal go back to the map screen and check the signal icon and then if there is a firmware update for your unit try to download it.

Fist you should travel around with it, and see if in a different area you get satellites.
It could be where you are at, so this does not mean that in another town or state it won't work.
If you try this and still have problems it could be the unit and you should contact the MFG and send it in for repair.
This is the contact support page I posted below if you need it, its a live link so if you click on it the page will open.

On my Garmin that is usually caused because the interface cable is not firmly seated into the slot. If all the contact points are not in place you will get that problem.

To map it for Philippines..you should get to the Garmin maps page ...and gt a map for the region ...This is not a free download and the procedure is to make an account ..and they have a wizard that will guide you trough the installation of the map ..
here is where you have to register..and after that logging in will help keep track with all you have and get in the device ..
o r..just buy a map ..here..
select the device . than the continent ..and the type of the map ..and proceed with buying -downloading it ..
The first link ...if you make an account ..you have the possibility to use that wizard and make the installation easier ..Im not sure if it is the same for the direct buy ...and you may end up making a manual installing ..and therefor needing guidance ...
Good luck ..anyway ..I hope you will manage ..

Initially a GPS may take 20-30 minutes to obtain satellite lock, try leaving the unit powered on in a window or something of the sort. If you are still unable to achieve a lock try giving the unit a firmware update using Garmins Webupdater Software. Here is a link to the necessary software http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp.
Hope this helps!
