The inlet sits in the Hallway. Do we have to keep individual doors open when room is switched on for heating or cooling. Our unit is a R410A

That depends on how big your system is and if you want the heated or cooled air to enter the other rooms. If there are entry/exit doors to the outside of the house, then these should be closed, along with windows, when the split system is operating.
