SOURCE: I need to re-program my 96LM wireless keypad for my garage.

If you have the wireless keypad it is easy. Find the smart/learn button which is just to the left of where all those white wires go. Press and immediately release it and then walk over to your keypad and enter any 4 digit number you like and press enter. You should be good to go.

SOURCE: can only program one remote or keypad. which ever

You are going to have to do a process of elimination. I think you have either a bad remote or a bad keypad. Try programming a remote and then the keypad. If only one works then go with the other remote and the keypad. If only one works then program the two remotes. If the two remotes work then the keypad is bad or if you can program one remote and the keypad then the other remote is bad. Get rid of the bad one.

Can only program one remote

You have a remote or keypad that has reverted to an earlier technology. You need to eliminate the bad unit and the others will program. Sears is made by Chamberlain which also makes Liftmaster and several privately branded openers.
