SOURCE: Micro SD problem loading music

Just a guess, but I'm thinking the problem may lie in the format of the media. Try to format in FAT32. Also make sure that the full card is used ( don't do only 500mb or such ) FAT file system used to only allow a certain amount of space for
(F)ile (A)llocation (T)ables, and I think only a certain length of file names ( I'm thinking 8 character ), while FAT32 allows for 32 character file names, and allows for more FAT table information. I wouldn't ty NTFS if it does allow, as some portable devices do not read them, but fat and fat32 should be universal...

Open "my computer". The SD should be visible from that window. If you right click on the SD drive and chose "explore" from the drop down list it will open a window so you can access the files inside.

SOURCE: vaio and micro sd

Hi,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".

Since you have verified that the card works (in your phone) and that the adapter works (in another computer), then the issue could very well be with the Sony VAIO VGN-C140G/B. More specifically, the USB ports/drivers. Presumably that the Sandisk 2Gb Micro SD & the adapter were working before and that you are using Windows Vista, pls check your updates that has anything to do with USB. Alternately, you may want to rollback/downgrade the USB drivers and/or seek USB driver update from the Sony site rather from Microsoft.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for your continued patronage of FixYa.

I have a dell 755 that the CD drive won't play certain CD's. It is not the CD because it plays on other machines. Some CD's will play just fine. Get's the error message Unable to Access Drive D tr

it depends on the files on the cd ...they might require a certain software to be installed in order to be read..for example the player may not be able to read mp4 without a codec installed ..or vcd (video cd ) to need a dvd player installed or a player that supports video cd and dvd-es..Same way for other file types...or ...certain speeds being imposed on writing ..and your cd drive to be unable to read them on those speeds..

I've downloaded music videos on my mp3 player but when i try and play it back it says not supported. why is that?

Check the instructions for compatible file formats,
It will only play certain file types and some will have a max resolution EG.(320x200)
If you are really keen you will need to download a file format convertor, download.com is one of the easiest places, search for video file format converters and get a free one

I am having problems playing back downloaded files.

Are the files actually .mp3 format? There are a few different compressed formats available now and some mp3 players etc are not compatible with these formats.
Older players (and some current ones) for instance will not play .wma files which are Windows Media Audio files.

Transferring Audio Filles

The songs are perhaps in the wrong format.  This player will not accept copy-protected iTunes (AAC) files.  Also, the license on your files may not permit transfer to mp3 players. Definitely check the bitrates on your files, b/c this Sony can only accept certain ranges of bit rate.
This is my general spiel about music formats, but note that your Sony does accept DRM-protected files with transfer rights, so not everything in the following blurb applies fully to you: All of these problems occur because the user is trying to download a song format that the player does not recognize. Every music file is in a certain format. The most common music file formats are Mp3, WMA, AAC (iTunes), WAV, RA, etc.  In addition, every file format type is in a certain bitrate, size, etc.  By far the most common issue is that the music file contains a license or copyright (especially with WMA or AAC file formats).  Each Mp3 player only recognizes a certain number of these formats. Every Mp3 Player is different. You will have to check your Mp3 player’s product specifications (specs) or user’s manual to find out which formats your particular Mp3 player recognizes. When you try to download or sync the wrong file format, you will get one of the errors that I mentioned above.   If you want to know what file type you have, then you must find the location of the individual music file on your computer, right click the title of the song, and select the option “Properties” from the menu.
Mp3 player product documentation is not straightforward.  If a player supports only non-protected WMA files, it will merely say that it supports WMA – it will not tell which type of WMA it supports.  A player that supports DRM-protected WMA’s will usually indicate such on the box (usually with a Windows Plays For Sure logo – which is actually an ironic misnomer).  DRM stands for Digital Rights Management, and it is a type of licensing system for WMA files.  It is used extensively by mp3 player music services such as Bearshare, LeapFrog, Napster, and others.  Not all DRM licenses are created equal – there are licenses with “play rights,” burn rights,” and “transfer rights.”  Play rights mean that you can only play the song on your PC – it will play fine on your computer, but it will not play in your mp3 player even though it appears to transfer.  Burn rights mean that the song can be burned to CD.  Transfer rights mean that the song can be transferred onto an mp3 player that supports DRM-protected files.  Then, there are unlimited licenses and limited licenses.  Limited licenses only allow you to play a song for a certain length of time. You would have to pay extra to continue using the song after that trial period is over – the time length ranges from a few days to several months or longer.

When I try to play music downloaded from Virgin my Tevion mp3 player comes up Format error. How do I get the music to play?

Format error means that you are not playing the file extension which is supported by your mp3 player ,it should be .mp3 extension.
for eg if your song name is let the music play.it should be as let the music play.mp3
if you are unable to see .mp3 extension
goto my computer>tools>folder option >view tab > uncheck "hide extension for know file types".
if you have any problem .just reply with a comment so that i can help you further

Good luck

thanks for using fixya
