SOURCE: fridge freezer not cooling

(bad news) Repair man came today and said the compressor has died ;- (

(good news) Westinghouse will replace compressors less than 5 years old with a new one, just ring them with your serial number (inside front door) or supply a receipt and you only have to pay for the labour ;-)

Fridge is freezing....

The way you've stated your problem is confusing? The temperature is the freezer should be 5 degrees F or below, preferably at 0 degrees F. The refrigerator side should be anywhere from 34 - 38 degrees F, What exactly is the problem your having, fresh food not cooling but freezer works ok?

I have just bought a new side by side westinghouse fridge, it is getting a bit cold, but nothing like a really wanted. How long does a new fridge take to get to the desired temp....the manufacture...

If you have the food frozen or water frozen in less than 2 hours with less opening of the doors then the fridge must be working fine. make sure there is sufficient voltage as required for the specified mains requirement.
Similarly once the freezer is working fine your bottles kept within should be chilled by this time.If so your fridge seems to work fine.
Since you have a new fridge you can always have the warranty/service cover which you must be aware of and taken consent for advice..

Freezer not working

Your refrigerator has a Control-defrost,adaptive timer ,PC board part number 241508001
This is providing your model is the one listed above your post WRS3R3EW. The model you listed in post does not come up. Until we can determine that the freezer is not defrosting you need to unplug and remove the back panel of freezer compartment to see if the evaporator coils are frozen or clear. If frozen this alone will cause a chain reaction that keeps vents to fresh food compartment open and cause freezing in that area. Go to link below and enter model number WRS3R3EW0 Then you will see a list of diagrams on left side, chose #11 this will show the control parts. Click link below Thanks, Sea Breeze
We offer free help and assistance also.

Top half fridge not cold freezer department fine

I had the same problem; the top fridge compartment was warming up to 14C while the freezer compartment was starting to defrost (frozen stuff was starting to become soft. I took the rear wall off the freezer compartment and found it all iced up. I defrosted it with a blower heater then powered it back up. It all worked fine for a month when the same thing happened. I figured that the defrost cycle wasn't working. I located the defrost timer on the rear right-side of the fridge. I rotated it several times and found that the fridge was turning on and off. I rotated it until the fridge turned off. I waited 5 minutes then stuck my head into the freezer compartment and felt the rear wall at the bottom where he drain is; it felt warm so I guessed the defrost heater element was ok. I ordered a defrost timer and installed it. I haven't had a problem since.
