Question about Televison & Video
Have just been given a DSE DVB T GH5912 Standard Definition Set Top Box - and it has no user manual with it - I have no clue what on earth I am meant to do with it other than having hooked it to the tv - cant seem to get it to talk to the tv so not sure if I have the cables in right... its an old Panasonic TV - big boxy type so pretty basic as far as it has an antenna cable hole and the Audio/Video cable holes - so not hard to figure out which goes where there... lol Cant seem to find a manual online for this Set Top Box... can anyone help?

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Did you select the output of Cable box to HDMI out? I think it is in the menu setup on most cable boxes. It maybe active but if it isnt, try this.... Hold Menu button down and see if setup menu comes up and then toggle with arrow buttons on front of settop box and try and select HDMI if it is in there. Also make sure settings are on in the T.V. menu as well. Let me know and we will continue. Thank you ...GURU JAY

SOURCE: Sound only works with HD, not SD
Check the setup menus of the Insignia TV, as most sets have an advanced setting hidden deep in the setup menu to use the HDMI cable for sound - OR- use component RCA inputs for sound. My Philips TV has this.
It's odd that this only shows up for SD content...I would see if there is a firmware update available for that from the manufacturer. The one thing that you see lots of firmware fixes for are HDMI issues.

SOURCE: Ok I have no skills
OK! First, you have NO TUNER in that model. It's called a monitor. You have to use a cable box, satellite receiver or use an older style vcr with a tuner in it. With the vcr you won't see HD stations that broadcast in HD. You will see the old style analog.
