When scanning with the native scanning software, the scanner runs very fast but file size is huge. When I use Adobe 9 to scan, my files size is much smaller but the scanner pauses after each page. I need...

I would expect the problem with the Capture perfect fike size is down to the compression chosen for the output file. Ideally black and white inahes should be Group 4 TIFFs and Colour or Greyscale should be JPEG. Alternatively you may want to check the scanner is set to 'scan ahead' in the twain settings in Acrobat. If it is set to anything else the scanner will slow down to allow the PC to process every image. With 'Scan Ahead' turned on the scanners memeory buffer the PC speed a little giving you faster scanning.

When I scanto Paper Port, I get a black and white copy. When I scan to my pictures I can get a color print

You can change colour option is scanner software from where you scanned. For that before scanning open that software then go to it's settings and change scan option to color if you want color. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Canon scanner speed slow

Various ways....Try these! the slow problem wil get off

How to change the resolution (Windows)
The precision of printouts can be improved by changing scanning resolution.
The higher the scanning resolution is, the more precise the scanned images are represented, however, the file size gets larger.
The scanning resolution can be changed before scanning photos.
Note: When the scanning resolution is doubled, the image data size will be quadrupled.
When the data size is large, the throughput speed may slow down or may occupy too much of the computer's resources (memory).

Memo: The following is explained using MP Navigator 3.0 procedures.
To scan using MP Navigator:
1. Launch MP Navigator and click Photos/Documents (Platen) on the Scan/Import tab.
80006642en_05sj00759_en_00.jpg- The window you see varies according to the printer model.
2. When the Photos/Documents (Platen) window is displayed, click Specify.
3. When the Scan Settings window is displayed, select the resolution in Scanning Resolution.
If necessary, set other items as well.
4. Click OK.
5. In the Photos/Documents (Platen) window, click Scan to start scanning.
6. Changing the resolution is completed.

To scan using the scanner driver:
1. Launch MP Navigator and click Open Scanner Driver on the Scan/Import tab.
80006642en_05sj00765_en_01.jpg- The window you see varies according to the printer model.
2. Change the resolution.
According to your purpose, set the resolution in Simple Mode with ease, or in Advanced Mode with a detailed setting.
- To set the resolution in Simple Mode:
(1) Select the Simple Mode tab.
(2) Select the output resolution from the Destination pulldown menu.
If necessary, set other items.
- To set the resolution in Advanced Mode:
(1) Select the Advanced Mode tab.
(2) In Output Resolution, select one of the preset resolution, or enter the number from 25 to 19200 to specify your favorite resolution.
If necessary, set other items.
3. Click Scan to start scanning.
4. Changing the resolution is completed.

Black and white scanning, as our scanner scans in colour, I would like to know how to scan in Black in white so to have smaller files. Thanks Sonia

You must select TIFF format for B&W. TIFF G4 format is the smallest. JPG offers both grey and Color outputs.

Make sure the white document matt from uner the lid has been removed. Also in Epson scan make sure you have changed the document type from reflective to Film and Colour positive.

Colour change

In the Advanced tab for the scanner software, there is a tab labeled Color/Colour. On this tab, select the "Reset" button. This should return all color adjustment options to their default setting. If this does not resolve the issue, you may want to try reinstalling the software, but there is also a possibility that the unit itself has some problems.

Scanning speed problem

The scanners rated speed is for black and white all error correction turned off. As soon as you start doing 24bit colour or grayscale or up the dpi the scanner will start scanning more slowly. I personally get abpout 60ppm with my error correction on black and white 200dpi. (300 dpi scans just as fast although 400dpi will slow down).
