Best shortcut! Remove the C'MOS battery (small silver disk) , go wash the car, come back in, put back the battery and if the password is not "burned" by the manufacturer, you are good to go.

Prove ownership to dell, and they'll assist you.
There are plenty of sites online which instruct how to 'hack' this system.
Good luck

If it's a problem with your BIOS password, your best bet is going to be to get ahold of Toshiba and ask them what they suggest for your laptop model. BIOS passwords are notoriously hard to reset, they're built that way. Hope this helps!

Bio password lockout. i do not want to remove the bio battery for the simple fact it's soldered in. is there any other way. l505-s5966

The password is there to protect you, if a thief has possession of your computer, and tries to use it.

FInd your original sales-receipt, to prove that you are the owner, and contact Toshiba's technical support, for assistance.

Acer TravelMate 5520 is bio-probtected and unknown password

As a general rule, registering with "Acer Standard Registration" is simply putting your computer under Acer's warranty for operation and/or repair if needed; registration almost certainly has nothing to do unlocking your password.

First, without sounding critical, if you didn't set the bio-protection, who did? Or, who had access to your computer that could have set the biometric fingerprint sensor? That person could/should be able to unlock it.

Assuming you've used the computer (and not someone else) and you're not the second register of the computer, you could try contacting Acer at their website and explain your problem and see if they can answer your question.

If the laptop is not originally yours, and the biometric sensor was set by a previous owner, that should solve your problem, having the previous owner "unlock" the system.

If the laptop is not originally yours and you don't know who the previous owner is, there's a good chance that you cannot access the informtion. You could take the laptop to a computer repair outlet that does hard drive repairs, however that is usually not cheap and you might pay for them for an evaluation and find that they cannot unlock the system.

And, there's a chance that you will not be able to reformat the disk; the protection might not allow you to reformat it. Again, you might need to bring it to a computer shop and have them reformat it (or, possibly, install a new hard drive in order to use the computer).

You must be talking about a startup password that protects unknown users from even booting the OS or getting in BIOS... Usually the only way to fix this is to reset CMOS by battery removal (internal CMOS battery), but depending on your pc, sometimes an EEPROM chip must be replaced because these chips do not loose their value if the power is removed.
