I doubt that they will sell just the motor if they do don't be surprised if the replacement motor costs more than the vacuum.

Why did my black and decker air swivel just stopped while I was vacuuming

If you were vacuuming high carpet on the low carpet setting, you may have overheated the motor and tripped the thermal overload... try it again in a few hours and it may have cooled down enough to reset...

The vaccum continues to shut down and Shark troubleshoot suggest the thermastat. Instructions followed but problem persists.

the burning odour will be from an over heating motor ( overload switch is cutting in )
have it checked out by an accredited service agent for the machine

Shark handheld vacuum shuts off after 10 to 20 minutes. What is the problem?

The motor probably has a heat sensor overload protector to protect the motor from burning out its motor windings. There is nothing wrong with the vacuum itself.

Shark uv208 turning off

Ok, it has a thermal breaker built into it to protect the motor from burning up.

9 out of 10 times it means either a blockage or even the main air filter is blocked--if filter blocked the motor overheats so.....

Locate the filter and if foam it will be washable--did one recently with this issue in another brand--instructions right where the filter is indicate to wash in sink etc and water ran black for several minutes, hope this helps.

Power cuts maybe after 10 mins use, then after switching off for an hour or so, it works again! repeat.

I would think that it is probably a motor going bad and tripping the overload switch. After the overload resets, it will run again. Is there a chance that the motor is still under warranty? Some vacuum maker warranty the motor for longer than the rest of the vacuum (Dirt Devil is 6 years on the motor) so hopefully they will fix it for free. One other thing, should be obvious, but I'll ask anyway -- the brush is turning properly and the vacuum has suction when it is working, right? if something is jammed that could overload the motor as well.

Stops after a few minutes

Its overheating, so the TOC (thermal overload cutout device) is cutting the power to the motor to protect it.
Thats why it works when it has cooled down.
Check for blockages and make sure the filters are clean, if it still happens take to an approved engineer to check the TOC

Here is the owners manual which goes over some troubleshooting problems.

At first I would think it was the thermal overload, which is covered in the manual. But I would guess that you have let it sit for 30 minutes to cool down and tried again and the vacuum still didn't work.
I would think you may have one of four problems.
1. Your thermal overload was tripped and is stuck and will need replaced.
2. You have a clog in your vacuum lines or the brush roller is froze, which keeps causing the thermal overload to trip.
3. Your power cord has a short, which would need replaced.
4. Your power switch is bad, which would need replaced.
Out of these 4 possible problems I would say the only one you could fix on your own would be problem #2. Make sure the vacuum is unplugged and take the brush roller off and clean it, make sure it moves free. Check your vacuum lines to make sure you do not have a clog, other wise the motor does not get air flow to cool it down causing the thermal overload to trip. As for problem 1, 3, and 4 I would suggest taking it to a repair shop.
Hope this helps, post back.
