I wonder what batteries you use? The best would be two AA rechargeable NiMH batteries. But a new CR-V3 lithium battery should work also.
When you have rechargeable batteries, you should check if they are charged. And when inserting, check if you did out them in correct. Only the CR-V3 is protected for inserting it wrong. when you have two batteries, you can put them in the wrong way. Then, if you did not use the camera for a long time, please make sure all contacts in the battery compartment are clean and shiny. If not, try to clean them, with a clean cloth. Never use anything sharp in or close to a camera. Contacts, could be rubbed with a little electronic contact oil, but the oil must be removed afterwards. As strange as it may sound, even the contact oil can be cause of oxidation on contacts.
When the batteries are in, make sure the battery door is correctly closed.
If you checked everything and you are sure the batteries are in correct, just try switching on and of several times, by opening and closing the lens barrier. Also while the lens barrios is closed, press the play back button on the back side of the camera. If both don't work, then again the batteries are under suspicion.

Thank you Harrie - I have just put in two panasonic AA batteries - do these not work? I just assumed that two AA batteries would be able to operate the camera.

SOURCE: Olympus battery charger flashes red when battery is inserted.

@gminvite1
"Another way I found was when this happens, to push the battery to the point the light will turn on, when it starts flashing slide it off then back on. Do this a few times so it charges a little, then you should be fine to leave it on."

I tried to do this with my LI-10C Olympus charger and it worked..The blinking red light turns to solid red..Thanks for the info...Now I won't be bothering to buy a new batt.or have my charger checked..

SOURCE: Olympus camera: battery empty

OK, here's the answer. You won't find it anywhere else, but here it is.

If you use rechargable batteries, you MUST use ones with a respectable capacity. 2000mah are probably not enough. You need 2400mah at least. Yes, it doesn't make much sense, in the the battery capacity is supposed to reflect how long they'll last. But the wimpy batteries just won't let this camera turn on.

I have some experience with different battery capacity in this camera, and it took some aggravation to figure this out. But I'm pretty sure this is the answer.

The higher capacity batteries are more expensive, and their hold time is probably not as good. But I get a reasonable amount of usage with them.

Solution: Reset by removing and reinstalling film. Take the battery out and re-insert.
Cause: Possibly the transport system is not compoleted previously or film door may not be reset. Once it resets it should work.
Cost: Better to purchase another than repair. $40 new

My new T-100 olympus camera keeps in saying writing project or card full? never been used camera, and the SD card is brand new.

Have similar concerns with Olympus T100, and ignored it. After 4mos, it gotten worse. It can only turn on but the can't read anything from the LCD. Tried formatting it in the PC, but can't be detected either both with SDCard inserted or removed. It seems internal system is corrupted. Opinion regarding why is this happening is much appreciated.

Olympus FE 150 digital camera shuts on and off repeatedly

There could be a problem with the battery , the charger or the camera itself. I would recommend you send them to an Olympus service center location for evaluation.

Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $93.85 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.

Olympus c-160 battery problem

Check your user manual to see exactly what type of batteries you can use. Not all AA batteries will work in all digital cameras. Some require a specific brand of batteries or specific number, even though, they may be physically the same size. Hope this helps :)
