How can I get my DC26 working?!

They can cut out due to overheating. Although you say you have 'cleared' the filters, they should ideally be washed as they can clog with very fine dust and cause overheating due to lack of air flow. Once a machine cuts out due to overheating it can take maybe half an hour (or longer) to cool down enough to work again.

How to clean

There are 2 Filters that should be washed every 3 months. they are labeled as filter A and Filter B. They only neet to be washed with water. if you use any type of soap or cleaner it will actually damage the filters and they will need to be replaced.
Another part of the vacuum that can be cleaned is the clear bin assembly. REMOVE it from the cyclone before cleaning it. DO NOT get the cyclone wet. it will damage the machine. but again just water and a rag on the bin assy will work great any type of cleaner will actually cause the bin to get foggy.
The only other part to be cleaned is the roller brush. what i would recommed is to take a box cutter, and to cut the length of the roller. all of the hair and fibers on there. then turn the roller brush 180 degrees and cut it again. then turn the vacuum on and vacuum with it for a minute and the debris from the roller brush should be gone.

Electrical supply cuts out after a few minutes use

Sounds like the motor is overheating and cutting out. The motor has a protection device that automatically resets when the motor cools down.
The most common cause of overeating is blocked or dirty filters. Don't be fooled by Dyson's "lifetime filters". They need to be cleaned and/or replaced regularly.
If after cleaning/renewing filters it still does it, you need a new motor as the trip device is not available separately. New motors can be found on eBay quite cheaply but it requires some special tools and good DIY skills to do it. Have a look at www.dysonmedic.com to see if you you think you can do it, but if not it's time to call a repair shop or the Dyson helpline.

Hi,my dyson animal cuts out and wont restart until it has sat for a period of time, please help thanks

The electric motor inside your Dyson has a built in over-current trip to protect itself (and you if it seriously overheated and caught fire). This normally automatically resets itself, however if the motor has just about had it, next time it is switched on it just trips again.

The primary cause of motors overheating is that the filters are not cleaned or replaced frequently enough. Dont be fooled by Dyson's "lifetime filters". They need to be regularly cleaned and replaced when necessary.

Replacement motors are available on eBay for about £25, however replacing one requires good DIY skills and tools.

Have a look at www.dysonmedic.com and see if you feel you can tackle it yourself. If not, take it to a repair shop or call the Dyson helpline.

Motor overheats and shuts off

The priamry cause of motors overheating is that the filters are not cleaned or replaced frequently enough. Once a motor starts to overheat, it has already been damaged and even after the filters have been cleaned, may well still overheat and cut-out. This normally automatically resets itself, however if the motor has just about had it, the moemnt it is switched on, it just trips again.

The full bag light comes on when it is getting full or a blockage in the hose or the dirt inlet by the brush roll. Other then that, there is a circuit board called the computer controller, part #5740ER and is giving you a false reading and causing a shut down.
