Question about Acer TravelMate 3260-4874 Notebook
Here is the thing, apparently all the certificates within the laptop expired, which is not allowing me to do much of anything. I need to reset the acer back to the factory setting. I bought it used and it did not come with any of the original software. I don't have the funds to buy cds or software of any kind. Is there a way, I can go in and reset it to original setting and then, I can add my software to the laptop and maybe get online with the computer again. Please and Thank you. Sharon
Try acer recovery management . should be installed on your pc. look for the restore button when the program opens.

Recovery media is not necessary to recover your computer. You can use Acer Recovery Management to reinstall your Operating System from a hidden partition built into your computer. If you have replaced your original hard drive, you will not have Recovery Management, and will need to install windows using Recovery disks.
Note: During the process, all data stored on your computer will be overwritten. This means all your files, such as email and photos, will be erased. Therefore, we recommend making a backup of all personal data before starting the recovery process..
Use the following steps to start the system recovery:
1. Restart the computer.
2. When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the left Alt, and the F10 keys.
3. If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
4. After the Acer eRecovery Management application has loaded, select your restore type.
5. Read the notice, and then click Next when you are ready.
6. Click Next to begin the restore process. The restore can take anywhere from 10 minutes up to an hour.
7. Once the restore is complete your computer will load Windows and start installing your drivers and software. Your computer may reboot several times during this process. After everything is complete your computer will be like it was when you first purchased it.
If the steps above do not work, you will need to use recovery media to restore your system. If you do not have a set of Acer Recovery Media, you may purchase a set online.

Did you try to recover interrupting startup like pressing ESC or an Fkey? Try fiddling with that. Maybe you can reset it to factory. You can on an HP Supported computer.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Check out this thread about installing the module into the exact same laptop:
This particular post (found down the page on page 2 of the thread) reveals that someone has succesfully installed it without the need for drivers: http://www.notebookforums.com/post2555643-3.html
Follow that thread and check that you have installed the module in the correct location as described in a couple of the messages in the thread.

You may be able to hold F2 as you power up to open up the "setup" screen. There should be an option to restore to factory defaults on that screen.

start computer when acer logo appears press F2 to go into BIOS settings scroll across to BOOT top menu bar with the arrow buttons scroll down to D2D enable/disable change to enable and ENTER. save and exit. restart computer once again when acer logo appears press <Alt>+<F10> at the same time to enter the recovery process, refer to on screen instructions to recover system.

Generally it is suppose to be F11 key.
On couples of computers we use F11 so it should work for you dear.
