How to repair the dial on a Kenmore stand up mixer?

The mixer is almost certainly made by Kitchenaid. Kenmore stuff is just a brand name and the items are made by large reputable companies and badged Kenmore.

I found this;

Posted: 09/15/2011 Options I had a similar problem with my Kitchen Aid. The switch is not actually a switch but rather moves a lever that operates two things at the back of the mixer: 1) a simple lifting copper arm that makes a contact to provide power to the system (electrically this mixer is just on or off) and 2) The lever also moves the entire back control board forward and back. There are two long screws at the top of the control board that are spring supported to allow for this movement. There is a governor on the shaft of the motor that pushes against a plate in the center of the control board. The farther the switch moves the control board back the further back on the shaft the governor can go and the faster the machine can go. In my case the screws holding the control board had come loose allowing the governor to go all the way back (high speed) at the first click. Take the back cover off and see if the two top screws need to be adjusted (tighter and the mixer starts slower (or not at all) looser and is starts faster and the last click or two will not make it go any faster. Also check the copper arm to ensure it moves up and down on the first click of the switch properly. Also in my case the two nuts that hold the motor in place had come loose and were in the bottom of the cover so you may want to check for those. Ensure the mixer is unplugged before opening.

I agree with E Brian. There is no on-of switch as such, just a governor. In my case, like Jeanne the baker, the switch jumps on all by itself. The solution was quite simple. The little lever is held in place with a screw. If this screw is loose, the lever will not stay in the correct detent, as it is pulled forward by a spring. Tighten the screw, and the problem is solved. I was surprised by how old-tech the mixers are. The controls are electro-mechanical like I remember from school almost 50 years ago. I expect that the new ones are electronic.

How to replace my Hobart D300 mixer transmission and the third speed is not working

Probably a sheared key. Dismantly and inspect the transmission components.

Hobart H600 wont shut off

Sounds to me like the start switch contacts are welded shut.If you have a multimeter set it to ohms,remove 1 wire from the switch,put your meter leads across the switch and if you get a reading that switch is bad.If you dont get a reading i would check the side switch on the contactor.Im a hobartt tech and repair these mixers alot.Let me know.

My mixer wont start

First of all plug another appliance into the receptacle to make sure you have power there. If you don't have power at that receptacle you have blown a fuse or tripped a circuit breaker. good luck
