Volume turns down by itself until it says VOLMIN

The unit turns the volume down by itself, until the front panel says VOLMIN, as if the turn volume down button is physically pressed. This is permanent, I cannot use the unit because the volume is always turning down. It's constantly beeping while doing this. The unit is a HT-D6730W/ZA.

I actually contacted Samsung directly through online chat and they had no explanation as to why this is happening. I noticed however that the particular model that has this issue (in my case HW-F450) has been discontinued.

I have a Samsung home theater system model HT-D6730W. I have had some issues with the volume turning itself down till it says volmin. I've seen that I'm not the only one with this issue!!!! I have tried all the suggestions that were posted. Doing a hard reset, changing settings, I bought a cooling pad for laptops Hopi g those would fix it. I called Samsung support Which was a joke!!! I took the putter cover off and cleaned all the dust from the unit, removed batteries from remote, removed all cable connection on the back of the unit other than the HDMI cable going to the tv. Having done all that the unit was still turning its self down. I'm a bit of a tinker and so while the cover was off of the unit, displaying all the delicate stuff inside, I turned on the home theater system and played a movie set the volume to a good listening sound. When it started to turn it self down I remove the wide wire ribbon from the main circuit board going to the touch panel on the front of the unit. Voila!!! Sound quit going down!!!! I unplugged unit and removed front touch panel and cleaned all dust from the inside of it. Put it all back together. Tested. Still doing it. Removed the touch panel again and this time I disconnected the small wire ribbon for the volume touch buttons. Reassembled and tested. NO MORE ISSUES!!! Everything on the front still works other than the volume buttons. You can still change the volume using the remote!!!! I hope this finds everybody that is having this issue with there unit.

Thanks for that. I had the same issue except that the volume would go to MAXVOL. I was about throw the whole thing out when I saw your solution. I unplugged the power; unscrewed the cover and lifted it off; popped the front panel off (after disconnecting the wide connecting strip): pulled out the small strip connecting to the front volume buttons and reassembled (don't forget to reattach the wide strip). So far so good. Again, many thanks :o)

Thank you so much for your post. I have the same problem with my Samsung HT-E6750W. I tried various things, even locating a small cooling fan underneath the volume control. This seemed to work for a few days until it didn't. Finally I bit the bullet, having not much to lose and disconnected the onboard volume connection on the inside of the front panel just as you said. So far (early days yet) things look good - even without the cooling fan. I am amazed at the number of posts all over the internet relating to fading volume on Samsung electronics, including HTS's, DVD players and even their TV's. I would advise people not buy shares in Samsung - they seem to be blighted AND unhelpful. Goodbye Samsung.

Could it be your remote that is the problem? Take the batteries out and see if it stops happening. If it does then your remote is faulty.

SOURCE: When volume button is pressed it does not stop going up or down

You can also use the cancel button on the SC-BT100 remote to keep the sound volume from accellerating up or down if you don't want to take the time to unplug for the 5 minutes, if your watching something and don't want to miss it.

Display on the sound bar keeps going to volmin. it turns down by itself

Is there any settings that allow the unit to reduce the sound at all? Check carefully to see if there are. If you can't find any then there is a fault in the volume control circuit. Volume controls these days are controlled by a chip (IC). These can go faulty.

Phone turned off itself and i turned it back on, it now says "try again in 538472 minutes"

Do a Full Reset THIS WILL DELETE EVERYTHING!!!!!!!

  1. Press and hold the Volume down and Power buttons at the same time until you feel a vibration (about 10-15 seconds).
  2. When you feel the vibration, immediately press and hold the Volume down button until you see a large exclamation mark.
  3. Once the exclamation mark appears, press the following four buttons in this order: Volume up , Volume down , Power , Volume down . Your phone should now reset and restart itself. (It might take a while for the reset to finish.)

Try again in 134600 minutes

The volume control in this unit is most likely an Encoder and these have a nasty habit of getting dirty inside and false reading back to the computer that runs the receiver. In the past , I've had good results opening up the units and spraying what's called De-Oxit D5 into that volume control and rotating the thing a couple dozen times. . De-Oxit can be found on Amazon or Radio Shack

Volume decreases during use

Very simple. It is not a defective unit. Simply a matter of volume attenuation, hold the "function" and "grove"keys for aprox 5 seconds until a message saying vac off appears. Problem solved. Resets itself eveytime the unit is turned off .
enjoy!!!

Volume

Hi,
This sounds like a case of a dirty/defective rotary encoder. The volume control used here is not the conventional potentiometer type , but a rotary set of switches that tell the sytem if the knob is being turned left ot right.
Do you think you'd be able to open the unit and spray some contact cleaner into the rotary encoder? It might involve dis-assembling it down to front bezel removal.

Most likely the volume down button on the front of the TV or the switch that it activates is sticking. Should be an easy fix otherwise.
