To a Macbook Pro
Where is the red "x"? On the Mac? On your TV? What kind of cable are you using?

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

You have to go to System Preferences, Display and then choose display, arrangement and then check the box mirror images. If you have done that, and it still doesn't work, then I'm not sure what else to do! I hope that helps.

I was having this exact problem. You have to go to the "Audio MIDI setup" icon in the utilities folder. plugin your mac to the HDMI and TV and it should show up on the menu bar on the left as "HDMI"- then click it. then you have to click on the "format" drop down menu and change it to either 48000.0Hz or less. Make sure that the volume is down on your TV bc I almost gave myself a heart attack when I clicked it. Apparently the TV HDMI input is not compatible with the default on the Mac. Hope this helps!
