Red light flashing on charger

A red light indicates the charger is charging the battery, an amber light means it has switched from fast rate charging to trickle to keep the battery topped off, and green would mean the battery is completely charged. But don't be fooled waiting for green, many times the charger will only be on green for a moment before changing to amber and keeping the battery topped off.

Flashing can be a sign of a problem on some chargers.

A rapid flashing red can on some chargers indicate a bad or shorted battery, or a bad battery contact in the charger itself. If in question, try a different battery on the charger or compare with another charger to determine if the blinking is normal.

Best regards.

Red light flashing on joystick about 10 min after charging

Most of the time it may be the batteries at fault. One more thing to try is charging the chair with the Joystick on all night 10-14 hours uninterrupted charging. Your chair may suffer from current roll back. There is a circuit in your system that has to be reset by the long charge cycle to reset it. I did not make this up. it occurs when the motors over heat or have a a large current draw. the chair will operate normally for ten maybe even twenty mins. then suddenly drop down to 2 flashing red lights.

Nyko charger won't charge

Had same problem with blinking lights and not charging.
Plug charger base in (blinking lights), remove controllers, and plug USB cable into front charge slot (behind hinged panel). This reset charger base and lights stopped blinking. As FYI - the USB was connected to other device (charging it). Add the controllers and correct charging lights show up - including the controller 1 and 2 symbols. Controllers now charging.

Lite Blinks continusleyon control ,chair will not move

I am assuming you have a Jet 7 with a VSI controller (manufactured by Penny and Giles) with a steady flash of all the speed and profile LEDs (lights). This is a no drive away feature of the VSI if the charger is plugged in. The older Penny and Giles controllers indicate the same flash code.

If you have an on- board charger check to see if it is plugged into the wall. If it is, unplug it and see if the chair runs. Sometimes, you have to remove the back cover and unplug the charger haress at the output of the charger inside the electronics housing (much more difficult). A failed on-board charger can inhibit the VSI controller (no drive away) even if it unplugged from the wall outlet. There is also a charger inhibit harness with a fuse that might have failed. A qualified technician can jumper this harness to bypass and test.

If you have an off-board charger unplug it from the wall or unplug it from the charging port in the front of the VSI. If the chair runs in either case you have a bad charger.

You may also have a bad VSI controller which can be rebuilt or replaced. Start with the basic charger unplug tests and then work your way to the VSI controller. Hope this helps.

When turning power it makes a clicking sound but does not power up. battery charger has a red and green light on. When plugged in and turned on it flashes 8 times. I checked the power control connection,...

The chair will not move if the charger is plugged in. The flashes are normal with the charger plugged into the chair. The lights on the charger mean that the batteries have been fully charged. Red and yellow lights mean charging. After you unplug the charger from the chair (if off-baord charger, turn charger off or unplug from the wall) then unplug from joystick. after plug is removed from joystick press the on button and all the battery lights should be lit and when you move the joystick forward you will hear the electric bake release and the chair should move forward etc Hope this helps

Mpv 4 lights flash on control and charger indicates fully charged but cannot get it to go.

I think this chair uses the VSI joystick controller, and those flash codes are located here: http://www.pgdt.com/scenter/diagnostics/diagvsi.html

WHy is air hog battery charger flashing red

I had a Storm Launcher battery that was unused for sometime and when I plugged it in to the charger, the light flashed red. I checked the voltage of the pack and it was down around 2.5V....from 7.4V. I figured the "smart charger" thought it had a dead or shorted cell and wouldn't kick in the charging circuit. I McGyver'd the two probes and alligator clips to connect the pack to a 9V. NiCad "dumb" charger. The light came on showing a charge and I left it for 5 mins. Unhooked it and checked the voltage. It was now 5 volts...supposed to be 7.4...but much better than 2.5. Plugged the pack into the AirHogs charger and the green light started flashing, indicating a charge. Later I got the double-flashing and 10 minutes after that FULL charge! Just needed a boost to start the smart charger.

Upon power up, 3 red LEDs flashing rapidly continously, no power.

The control systems on power mobility equipment have a "prevent" circuit that immobilizes the equipment while it is plugged into a charger, so folks won't take off with it plugged into the wall outlet. When you turn it on when plugged into a charger, the display will flash constantly, or sweep constantly, depending on the manufacturer. This is normal. Your off-board charger should have a red light to indicate power to the charger, and another light for the charge status. Yellowish means it is charging, when it turns green, you are fully charged. If the status light is green all the time, that is an indication that the charger is not functioning properly, or that the batteries are below a chargeable state. Check charger output, which should be 26-28 volts dc, and each battery should show at least a 12 volt reading, but around 13.5 volts with a full charge. If one or both of the batteries drops below 12 volts after a short period of time, it's time for a fresh pair. Fully charge new ones before using the chair.
