Question about Sony Vaio S Series Vpcse190x Laptop/notebook W/ Bonus
I need to remove the hard drive from my Sony VPCSE190X. Upon removing the cover I see a ribbon running over the top which appears to be glued on but can removed. Do I remove the ribbon then remove the hard drive and snap it into place then replace the ribbon on top? Is the ribbon important? I have been unable to find a solution to this issue. Thank you.
It is used to pullout the harddisk no problem if you pulled out .if placed means easy to pull out thats it.

Testimonial: "You mean it's not connected to an important part of the computer? It appears to be connected that's why I didn't want to touch it. Thank you! I can post a picture if you are not familiar with the model. I appreciate your kind assistance. My older VGN model didn't have the ribbon and I could easily snap it out. This looked important so had me worried."
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

This is a complicated process and I advise you to be very cautious and carefully organize all screws and cables that you unplug in a clean and undisturbed area. Pay keen attention as to where cables are unplugged from so you can plug them in when hard drive is inserted. I must say proceed at your own risk because it might get frustrating if you are not careful and organized. First, turn over the laptop and loose all 7 screws on the perimeter of the laptop. Loose one screw in the middle and 2 on both sides of the battery (total 10 screws). Remove the battery, there are two clips there holding the keyboard. Release those and remove the keyboard and unplug main keyboard data cable from motherboard. Unplug the power switch cable, and the touchpad cable from m/board. Unscrew 3 screws from under the keyboard to remove the top cover of laptop. When that is removed you will see the hard drive in the bottom right. There are 3 screws holding the hdd to the system and 4 holding the enclosure that needs to be removed. Unplug the sata cable and use it for new sata hard drive. I hope you have had the patience to do this as this is a job for a technician. If you have succeeded, congratulations.

Here's a link for the instruction manual on replacing the hard drive.

Usually, with a dropdown toolbar, you can put the cursor all the way to the top of the screen and with the toolbar visible, right click on it to activate a control menu from which you can stop it from dropping down, unlock it and move it to either sidr, or even turn it off altogether.
If this doesn't work, try entering yout laptop model name in Google search followed by "disable dropdown toolbar" for blogs and forums for your laptop model that may have a specific command or trick for your machine.
