Question about Vivitar Cameras

Vivitar scale accuracy

I wonder if my new Vivitar TotalFitness scale is accurate. It seems off by 2 to 3 pounds, though I have no solid proof. Are there known problems with this brand of bathroom scale?

Why do you think it should be off?
Did you put on a known weight? Personal scales, come with a certain tolerance the is much more then the digits suggest. Most of the time the tolerance is printed in the manual. even 1% is a least 2 pounds plus or minus for a full grown person.
There is one plus in this, the deviation, is most of the time the same over a long time. So don't look to the absolute figures, unless poi did calibrate, just see if you are making progress over time.

Is there a way to calibrate without 3-50 pound weights?

water weighs 10lb to the gallon ( engilish measurement-calculate amount for us gallon)
so get your self a jug and place it on the scales empty adjust the scales to zero
fill the jug with a measured amount of water (example 1 pint will weigh 1.25lbs
then set the scales to the reading of 1.25lbs
to check the scales accuracy you can add extra water to the jug (say 4 pints ) and the scale should read 5lb

I have a supreme weigh sw02 digital pocket scale i need to calibrate and need help

500ml 0f water is exactly 500g, measure that volume and put it in freezer bag and use as calibration weight, or if you have friend with scales - borrow from him scale weights.

if you use water - accuracy of the scale will not be absolute, it may vary few g either way.

another way - go to shop and buy 500g block of butter - put it on the scale in the shop - remove or add as you need till you have exact 500g, shop scales are accurate on that weight within 2g

I don't have a manual. My scales have been very variable, like this morning showing that I had gained nearly 5 lbs in one day. I've been sick and am not eating much, so I know that can't be...

I don't have a manual. The readout is in kilos rather than pounds some of the time. How can I get it to read in pounds all the time? Also I replaced the batteries. Are they supose to be both with + up? I have a replacement heart valve so I don't want to know body fat. How do I make sure it is off?

My weight is not accurate. I weigh 260+ and the scale reads 245 to 249 and is inconsistant. I just replaced batteries (CR2032)for the second time

Very few electronic scales are accurate as they are a function of a resistance measured against a voltage. They may be accurate when you buy them, but over time the electronic components decay and read differently as the components are cheap 10% type resistors and capacitors and cannot hold their specific values over time.
If you want accuracy, you will have to get a balance type scale that can be calibrated on site.

Hi. I have a Produex glass bathroom scale. I have no idea what model it is and I can't find the instruction manual. Somehow it got switched from pounds to kilograms and I don't know how to switch it back....

I have a produex glass scale that is silver with a solid black stripe on one side and rows of poka dots on the other side. It has a tiny swicth on the back that changes the scale from pounds to kilograms.

Scale appears to be inaccurate

this type of less resoluted scale hasn't repeatability. if you wish to repair it, change the loadcell. use 2 x scale capacity of load cell.
