SOURCE: Bobbins for viking emerald 118

The Emerald 118 takes a bobbin that is very close in size to a Singer Class 15 bobbin, but it is slightly different.
Don't buy green bobbins for a standard Husqvarna machine. They will not work.
Any Husqvarna dealer can get the Emerald bobbins for you.

SOURCE: the bobbin thread is bird nesting on my viking

Make sure the bobbin is extended out of the bobbin case via the tension spring mechanism in the bobbin case. This provides tension for the bobbin unit. Check to make sure the upper thread has not "jumped out" of the take-up lever so that when the needle first touches the fabric the thread is still taunt and when the needle enters the fabric a small loop is formed right above the fabric and the eye of the needle. If these tips do not help suggest that you take it to an authorized husqvarna viking dealer for service. SOURCE: the bobbin is bird nesting on my viking emerald

Check that it is threaded correctly (both top and bottom) making sure that the upper thread is in the takeup lever and the bobbin is guided through the tension spring in the bobbin case. Watch the needle as you slowly turn the handwheel counter clockwise (toward you) and the needle point touches the fabric (make sure presser foot is down). Is the thread still relatively taunt? If it is loose, the upper thread tension unit does not have enough tension. Check the areas where the thread goes and make sure you remove any loose threads or fluff which could be inhibiting the tension discs from closing over the thread. If the tension unit still is not tightening enough, the tension unit may need to be replaced or the circuit board replaced. If everything is ok in the upper thread area, now look at the bobbin area. With no fabric, watch as the needle enters the bobbin area. Does it go down and the upper thread catch the bobbin thread and pulls it to the surface? Check for anything preventing the bobbin thread from being pulled up to the surface through the needle plate. If you have still not been able to resolve the problem suggest you take it to an authorized husqvarna viking dealer for service. Good luck.

SOURCE: husqvarna viking emerald 183 - horizontal bobbin

I know the answer is a little late now...
I bought the machine a month ago and find that the bobbin picture is a bit misleading... i find putting the bobbin in the case, pushing the thread down over the hook thing (like in the picture) but then cutting the thread really short and putting the plastic cover on seems to work!
it is actually vary easy once you get the hang of it!

How can I repair the top thread from tangling in the bobbin stopper for the Husqvarna Viking Emerald 118?

Thread nesting in bottom usually means that top thread is either not threaded correctly or top tension dials has lint caught in it. Use canned air to blow it out. Also change needle.

WhyHusqvarna viking emerald 116 bobbin thread won't thread through?

The needle is not always picking up the bobbin thread. This sounds like a hook/needle timing issue that will require service by a Viking Service Tech. Suggest that it be serviced by an authorized Husqvarna Viking Dealer. You can find the nearest dealer by click on the "Dealer" link at http://www.husqvarnaviking.com
Good luck.

My viking emerald 118 machine just started breaking needles and the bobbin thread will not hold. YOu can pull the bobbin stitch out by pulling the thread.

Check the upper tension by lowering the presser foot and pulling on the thread through the needle. You should feel resistance. If not, take a stiff brush and clean out the tension disks/dials removing any loose threads or lint. If upper tension is ok, check bobbin tension by pulling thread through needle plate opening. You should feel resistance. If not, remove bobbin case and brush any loose threads or lint from the case, especially in the tension spring where the thread is snapped into place. You may need to use a sharp needle to dig in between the spring but be careful that you don't damage it.

How do you adjust the bobbin tension on an emerald 118

There is a screw on the bobbin case that can be used to adjust the tension. However, first I would check that there is not a thread or lint caught in the tension spring of the bobbin case. Use a stiff brush to clean bobbin case. Use a needle (or other sharp point tool), and check spring area for thread.

I have an Emerald 203 When I hit the presser foot, the wheel goes round and needle moves up and down but the material does nt move

it sounds like the feed dogs are not working, if you have a manual
check and see if there is a lever to move the feed dogs up and down
and see if lever will move the feed dogs, if that lever doesn't then
the feed dogs will have to be checked.
here is a link for a manual if you don't have one

How do I adjust top and bobbin tension on Viking emerald 183?

I don't own an Emerald, but I am pretty sure there will be a button for it. It is usually represented by what looks like a twisted strand of DNA. The adjustment will be shown on the screen. I just had a look at the Emerald promo video from Husqvarna, and could not see the button on the green control panel. Is it one of the buttons closer to the needle? I was unable to see those closely.
You will be able to completely remove the bobbin and the bobbin case. There is a small screw on the outside of the bobbin case just near the tension spring (which looks like a thin flat piece of metal). You can adjust bobbin tension by turning this screw - right for tight; left for loose. Imagine the screw head as a clock face and never turn the screw more than 5 minutes at a time. You might like to use nail polish or whiteout to mark where the preset default tension is (mark where the cross piece of the screw head is) so you can return there later.
