I have my ryobi planer completely apart to replace bearings but cannot get the housing off of the armature. Do I need to remove the brush holder? How? Any suggestions.

Well, you've probably already done it but make sure you HAVE removed the motor brushes. Usually hidden under a couple of plastic plugs that unscrew. That releases the commutator. The motor should then slide out. Depending on exactly which Ryobi planer you have be aware that sometimes there's a sticker on the end of the motor that actually hides a circlip or other holding device. Good luck!

Need delta planer manual

It's easier to find parts and manuals with model numbers. On the Dewalt service website (http://servicenet.dewalt.com) they show your motor number is substituted with part number A00903. If you do a parts search on that motor you will see it fits four different Delta planers, all but one has a manual listed under downloads. Find the model closest to your planer.

Planer problems

If you're looking at the planer from the infeed side, there's a belt guard on the right side of the head. Remove it and check the condition of the drive belt. If it's broke the motor will spin without powering the cutterhead and feed rollers. The drive belt is still available as part number 22-563 on sites like http://servicenet.dewalt.com/ and www.ereplacementparts.com. Just put your model number in their search box and find the drive belt in the breakdown.

Is this a good planer?

Hi,

I do not have that planer, but I live thirthy miles form a Grizzly Store in Williamsport, Pa.
I have many friends that will go no where else to get their tools for their shop...
Have never heard any complaints about any of the Grizzly products...
And yes I have a couple of friends that have that planer and they love it...

You should be well satisfied with that product!

Can I level the infeed and outfeed tables on my 6" Ridgid planer/jointer? I don't see such information in the manual.

The majority of jointers even cheap chinese imports have 3" or 4" hand cranks for both infeed and outfeed adjustments. The gibs can usually be adjusted when needed even on cheap jointer planers.
The rigid website has a support page and product parts and manual download.
If the download doesnt work call them and insist that they e-mail or mail a paper copy.
Most jointer planers are somewhat similiar in design and appearance.
Some power tool instruction manuals from competitors may have more complete step by step instructions.

I have a wood planer with a 3HP 220 single phase motor wired to 20amp circuit breaker in my house. I usually run the planer off a 12gauge extention wire about 30ft from the house plug. I would like to...

Look on the planer to see what the R.L.A. are, for example 16.0 amps. Set a box with 2- 20 amp fuses, or a double pole 20 amp breaker. Do not exceed the amperage of what the planer says on its data plate. If the R.L.A. is 10.0 to 19.3, use a 20 amp.

I just inherited a Rigid TP3100 surface planer. Vertical guiding rods have some rust & I can only get a small height adjustment. I just put a little penetrating oil where the rods enter 'sliding...

I can't find a Ridgid TP3100 planer but there is a TP1300 but the fix is the same. Your best bet to remove the rust is to completely remove the rods and clean them with rifle bore cleaner (RBC), steel wool and a lot of elbow grease. You'll have to rub them until all the rust is gone and they're shiney and smooth again. Also check the upper head where the rods slide through to make sure they are clean. An alternative is to replace the rods, they run about $14 each, Ridgid part number 827718.
