What type of computer (OS version)? If you mean a SmartDisk SmartScan 2700, it only worked with Windows XP and 2000 and Mac OS 10.3 and 10.4 with the original software. There is a work-around for more recent OS versions. You need to find a copy of CyberView X that is compatible with your OS. This installs the driver for the film scanner. I found this page,
https://cyberview-x.software.informer.com/ , with the Windows version of the driver software through Google. Then you can buy and install the VueScan software,
https://www.hamrick.com/vuescan/smartdisk_smartscan_2700.html . The software has a free version for testing. However, neither the free or standard version support scanning film. You can buy the software either as a monthly subscription or a one-time purchase.
I hope this helps. In general, you need to install the driver before connecting the USB cable between the scanner and your computer.

(Note: I use the free version of VueScan to keep an old scanner available for infrequent single page scans.)
