Question about Palm Z22 Handheld
I just bought this in February so it's new but out of the warranty. It won't charge. I've tried both the USB cable as well as the one that plugs into the wall. Palm wants almost $100 to repair it since it is out of warranty but that is what I paid for it in the first place! Any suggestions as to where I can get this repaired that won't cost me a kidney??
Keep your kidneys! Have you, in fact, determined that it's the unit and not the charger cable/cradle? You may be better off taking it into a store that sells replacement (OEM) cables/cradles and plugging it in (before you buy, of course, or offer a kidney) to see if it reacts. If you don't have that option, you may need to take a chance and buy a generic or used cable/cradle on eBay or Yahoo! just to see if you really did get a defective unit. The batteries on those are a PitA (pain in the a**) to change. They're soldered directly onto the circuit board, which is why Palm charges $100 to fix them. Nice.
Please let us know how it turns out, or if we can offer more information. We definitely don't want your kidneys!
