SOURCE: frost build on coils - defrost not working

The defrost heater and defrost thermostat are behind the freezer panel.
Must have a model number to locate the defrost timer.
It is elsewhere in the fridge.

SOURCE: Coils keep frosting over

The defroster thermostat is what usually causes a ref/freezer to act this way. It can be changed by anyone handy with tools. You refrigerator schematic should show you where it is located.

I had water in bottom of kenmore fridge. This is now fixed but soon after I had frost building up on back wall of freezer.

you now have a defrost issue, remove rear panel inside freezer if the evaporator is covered with a heavy ice and frost build-up then either the defrost heater under the evaporator coil is open or the defrost thermostat on top of the coil is bad you need to check both for continuity or the defrost timer if equipped or the A.D.C. adaptive defrost control is bad and not supplying power to the defrost circuit

Refrgerator is not cooling

Hi there
I have some stuff for you to read hope this helps you.
Cooling is poor For an overall understanding of how refrigerators should work, read about refrigerators in the How Things Work section of our website. A refrigerator or freezer that is cooling, but cooling poorly, may have a problem in one of several areas: Evaporator coils Condenser Poor cooling is often the result of a heavy frost build-up on the evaporator coils or a condenser that is clogged with dust, lint, and dirt. Evaporator coils Poor cooling is often the result of a heavy frost build-up on the evaporator coils. You can't see these coils without removing a panel on the inside of your freezer. A sure sign that there is a build-up is the presence of any frost or ice build-up on the inside walls, floor, or ceiling of the freezer. Such a frost build-up usually indicates a problem in the self-defrosting system or damaged door gaskets. The refrigerator is supposed to self-defrost approximately four times in every 24 hour period. If one of the components in the self-defrosting system fails, the refrigerator continues to try to cool. Eventually, though, so much frost builds up on the evaporator coils that the circulating fan can't draw air over the coils. There may still be a small amount of cooling because the coils are icy, but with no air flow over the coils, cooling in the refrigerator compartment is quite limited. Here's an inexpensive, though inconvenient, way to determine if the problem is with the self-defrosting system. Remove all of the perishable food from the refrigerator and freezer, turn the thermostat in the refrigerator to Off, and leave the doors open for 24 to 48 hours. (Be sure to have several towels ready in case the melting frost and ice causes the drip pan to overflow). This allows the refrigerator to defrost "manually." When the frost and ice build-up has completely melted away, turn the thermostat back to a normal setting. If the refrigerator then cools properly, it indicates a problem with one of three components in the self-defrosting system: The defrost timer The defrost thermostat (also called the bi-metal switch) The defrost heater If it still does not cool properly, there may be a problem with the refrigerant level or the compressor. You may need to consult with a qualified appliance repair technician to further diagnose the problem Thank you for writing to fix ya.
Best Regards Richard

Refrigerator wont stay cold.Freezer works fine,no frost buildup

i replace the evaporator fan, this fan problem is hard to diagnose because the fan will spin but not fast enough to circulate the chilled air thru the freezer and the refrigerator. The minimum cost to repair/replace is around $300.00

Crosley Frost free Runs continuously

Try not to panic firstly, if you open the door and it starts to run then it was not running before hand right? or did I miss something?

Temp guage or thermostat I think this is one and the same leave it at a midway position for a while and lets see if it reaches temp in the fridge or not.

Crosley Servidor WCR17/E K3 Top Shelf and Drain Plug Freezes Over

first thing I would suggest is to flush the drain line. defrost any ice in the drain and then flush warm water thru the line until it flows freelyif  your having a hard time getting the line flushed out you may try using a large syringe or turrkey baster filled with warm water to forcfully flush water thru the line. this will most likely fix the problem.
you didnt mention if food was freezing in the refrig as well as the drain but there may be an off chance that the temperature control could be bad. since this is a manual defrost unit it depends on above freezing temps to help keep frost off of the cooling coil. if the temp control goes bad it will allow sub-freezing temps and possible drain freeze ups. so if the drain continues to freeze you will need to replace the temperature control.
if it comes to that, the control actually has a part number on it since maytag cant find your model number.
message me back if you have any further questions. thx peyton
