Question about Sony DDU-1615 / 16x DVD-ROM / 48x CD-ROM / DVD Drive 5-Pack DVD Drive

1 Answer

Try to burn a cd

My cd burner doesn't work, whenever I try to burn.... music, pictures, data......with any program....nero burning, wizard, media player.......when you have to push the button that says "burn" you get a message that the cd player is empty and you need to place an empty cd in it, when there is already one in, and it opens imediately the cd player itself.....

so, what can I do??? it probably is a problem with the writer itself.....but what????? and how to fix it???

hope someone can help me out her!!
thxxxx a lot!

Re: try to burn a cd

Hi, make sure that you have the right type of CD or DVD in the burner. From what you have written about what you drive is it is a "_" not a "+". It actually makes a difference. You may have acidently bought the wrong type for your burner and this will bring up that error.

Check your CD's and give that a go.

Hello,I have been using LG Secure Disc for 1 year. Now when i insert some DVDs in this it doesn't read them however it plays some original DVDs.Can i myself do something that it starts playing those...

OK, by the information that you provided it appears that the problem you have is with burned DVD copies of original DVD's. There are three possible reasons for this:
1. Your drive just doesn't like burned DVD's. This is the most unlikely of the situations but it does happen. Sometimes a firmware update will resolve that problem and I recommend a firmware update regardless of how your proceed. You didn't provide the model number but this appears to be the firmware update for your model as described. If not, browse LG's site for the exact one.
2. Bad/Cheap Media: Cheap media is the most common reason for copies not being read by some DVD drives and stand-alone units. Always use higher quality media for your burns. Verbatim is probably the absolute best and most reliable. I also use Sony and TDK as well. Avoid off-brands like the plague.
3. Burning Software: The second most common cause of burned DVD's not working. LG's I believe come with Power DVD OEM now (I know my Blu-Burner did) and they used to come with Nero. But they use to come with Nero and older versions of Nero were notorious for their burns not being compatible with certain drives (the problem was resolved in later releases) so I recommend for your burns that you use either the OEM of the software that came with your burner or a the latest version of Nero.
Now, if we're talking about DVD's of movies (which I assume that you are because you mentioned that the originals "play" and when talking about data, people don't normally use the word "play.") then that means you're using a keybreaker software to break security features and CSS keys and a separate software to burn (or you're using DVDFab which is notorious for failure rates). That's a problem because often the two different programs like that don't play nice. So here's what I recommend. Go to SlySoft and download the two greatest DVD burning products ever made, AnyDVD and CloneDVD2. They are separate products designed for each other and AnyDVD is the best keybreaker in existence and it's constantly updated and in conjunction with CLoneDVD2 it makes perfect 1:1 copies of your DVD's that will NEVER fail (provided you use decent media) in ANY drive. Both products have a 14 day free trial on them with no personal information required so test-drive them for yourself to find out how great they are.

I have never burned a CD. I have need of burning two tonight. What do I do?

are you burning a cd or dvd? burning a cd is pretty will do most of the work for you. put a blank cd in your cd rom/ dvd burner drive. it will ask you what you want to do with the blank usually asks you to format the ok.....a blank box will pop up....drag and drop your files to be burned into the blank box.....once you are done putting your media onto the disc....eject the disk...before the drive opens a box at the bottom of the screen says that the disc is being prepared for use on other computers. when it ejects, it should be can try to put it back in to the cd drive and see if your data/media files are on the disc. burning a dvd is alot more you have software for burning dvd media? if you do, they have help me files and tutorials........some more good also shows good tutorial vids on burning. just type in "burn a cd or dvd".

My cd/dvd drive will not burn cd/dvd's properly. it goes through the motions, but the discs come out as blank, i was able to burn cds at 2x speed, but that was it. any movie, or anything else will go...

what kind of application you use for burning??

try it again then double check if you really choose the right path of th drive you want to use as burner..

then you are sure that you burn the music as audio cd not data well as the video cd not data cd..

because if you burn data cd only computers can read that.. not your aplliances like for example your dvd player,cd,etc.

Problems burning cd's using my memorex dvd multi recorder 16x

It can be CD-blank media problem. Try another brand or if you use CD-RW try to use CD+RW.
Also try to use simulation mode. If it works fine it can be CD-blank media problem.
Good Luck
