Question about Nintendo Super NES Console

1 Answer

I have noise from the SNES games but just a black screen. How do I fix this?

I've tried multiple games and have noise from the game but the screen is mostly black with a few lines that run through it when there should be a picture. And I'm fairly sure my TV input channel is right.

Blank Screen

  1. Make sure your system is hooked up correctly. This is the number one reason for a blank screen. To ensure all hookup connections are firm and correct, remove the AV cables and reinsert them with a slight twisting motion (this will help fully seat the connections). For more information about connecting the system, check the following hookup steps:
  2. Make sure you are using all licensed accessories with your system. Unlicensed products are not fully compatible with Nintendo systems and may not work correctly.
  3. Make sure the system has power. If not, go to the No Power Light instructions.
  4. Slide the Power Switch on the Control Deck to the OFF position. Remove the Game Pak and re-load it, pressing firmly to ensure it is locked in place. Slide the Power Switch on the Control Deck to the ON position.
Important Note: Inserting the game with the Power ON may result in a blank screen. Always turn your system OFF before inserting or removing Game Paks
  5. There may be a problem in one of your hookup cables and not your system. Try purchasing a new connection cable (where to buy). You can also try borrowing the cable from a friend to see if it solves your problem before purchasing a new item.

How did you clean the game? Certain "surefire" ways may actually damage the game.

SOURCE: Super nintendo trouble

Sounds like the game is dirty, much like the original NES clean the game points, then try to clean the system points too.

SOURCE: Vertical lines show up on my SNES picture of any game.

Do you have a third party AC adapter for it? If you aren't using the original one, check its voltage. Mine was a 9V instead of a 10V and while it allowed the machine to run, I got visual distortion effects similar to what you describe. If it isn't a 10V adapter, go to Amazon and get a real one instead of a cheap third party one. I got this one (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00009ZKWC) and it works great!

SOURCE: picture is only black screen with white lines

I have a similar issue from time to time. It is merely a bad connection from the cartridge to the system. Some dust or dirt particles are causing this. Give it a good cleaning and you should be good to go.

Hello,

Try the game with another TV to see if you will have same problem. If you do not have that problem that means the TV you are using is faulty.

Thanks for contacting Fixya.

Super Nintendo games start but levels don't

try blowing inside the game cartridge and then the slot the game inserts into. I had this problem on my snes with some games and this helped. Other to that it may be the console is on its way out.

Ebay sell some really cheap snes consoles now. I picked one up for £15.00 with games.

SNES doesn't display?

The CIC chip, also known as lock out chip, may have gone bad. Here is a quote from a site I found.

"Every SNES control deck has a regional lockout chip (known as a CIC), as does every original SNES game cartridge. Before a game is loaded, the console will attempt to communicate with the CIC chip on the game cartridge. If the CIC chip doesn't respond or does not correspond with the consoles CIC, the console won't load the game. In most cases, a black screen is displayed."

SNES Game/System incompatibility?

check your connections, try cleaning your snes system with some rubbing alcohol (the party where the game connects to the system), you might have to take it apart to do that...

one way we use to do with the NES was cut a piece of paper out to fit inside the game, make it wet with rubbing alcohol, then push the game in and pull it out a few times (of course if the paper gets stuck you'll have to take it apart to get it out.

SNES's are pretty cheap so u may have to purchase a new one
