Question about Panasonic VIERA TH-65PV500 65 in. Plasma Television
I have a Panasonic Viera Plasma TV TH-42PA60L multi-system. It works fine with DVDs but satellite TV comes in black and white and there is no audio. We are in a PAL system country (Bangladesh), and we selected PAL, (we tried it on NTSC also, just to check). We tried fine-tuning but that doesn't seem to be the problem (other than the fact that it's black and white and silent, the picture is perfectly clear). We also checked the Closed-captioning, but that is off. Any idea what could be causing the problem?

While a modern PAL TV can display NTSC sources (namely DVD players and PAL VHS players that support pseudo-NTSC), an NTSC TV can not display a PAL source, unless it's an expensive multi-standard TV. Sorry pal, bad choice.

There should be a setting on the DVD's menu for output of picture. You should look under colour settings, to see if it has got NTSC output. You should also check your TV it might not be set to NTSC aswell. You can look in the user manual of the DVD to see if says anything about NTSC playback. If you have lost the manual you can download it for free on the Panasonic website.
If it won't playback NTSC discs, I'd guess you can get an adapter from somewhere.

Forced to factory default: press and hold [VOLUME ( - )] on the TV and press [MENU] on the remote 2 seconds. Exit: Unplug Power to reset.
If it does not help, the main board need to replace. For further questions, please add your comment.
