If your unit is making ice and is not shutting down on any faults then you need to check to make sure the condenser coil is not dirty or the air filter. also where is the machine located? If an ice machine is sitting in a warm to hot location then the slower it makes ice.The cooler the air around the unit entering the condenser coil the faster it will make ice.

SOURCE: uline icemaker compressor runs very hot - slow ice production

if the ice production is slow first try to set it on a warmer temperature. Now if its frosted up then you will need to defrost it. Also check the fan to see if its running. if yes is the condensor clean? If yes then check temperature in bucket. 10 to 15 degrees is ideal for this model.

The inlet to my icemaker is frozen and wont make ice

Most likely your machine water valve is leaking water when not asked for water for the ice maker. This small amount of water will freeze inside that tube due to freezing temperatures inside freezer.

You may need to change the water valve assembly.

Try to use a heat gun (may be a hair dryer - be careful with water area) to slightly warm up the ice maker water inlet. You have to be very careful not apply direct too much heat. It is plastic and melt. Has to very slow and mild.

Adjust amount of water to ice maker

there is a small setting on the icemaker module, but it only makes a VERY small difference. you would want to fix the water supply issue though. the icemaker fills a ceartain amount of time, not to a level, so if you increase the time, it is still filling so slow that it won't make a big difference.
3 possibillities for slow water flow
1. flow coming into the fridge is too low- plumbing issue, likely at the water valve under your sink.
2. Water filter needs to be changed every year
3. Bad solenoid valve in the fridge. it is where the water enters the fridge.

Icemaker has always been slow. It produces ice, just a couple or 3 times a day. We have to keep our old fridge running just to get enough ice... Cubes are full size, freezer is 0 degrees, not much...

Hi,
The main reason behind an icemaker to make ice slow is the freezer temperature. It needs to be below 10 degrees. Also check the water inlet valve. Water is controlled by a timer and if its obstructed or slow filling, it will not make ice. You could also have a bad motor, defrost heater, or sensor. If these items fail, it usually won't make any ice. Check to be sure the electric plug from the ice maker is plugged in and check the water flow. However if it is filling up with water or if it just has a small amount in the cube maker. If it's making some ice, it's probably not a defrost problem. Check the voltage to the fill valve. Also replace the freezer's water filter, as clogged filters block water flow. Set the ice maker arm to "Off," and then twist the hanging filter cup counterclockwise to remove it. Rinse the cup under running water and discard the old filter cartridge inside. Slide a new filter cartridge into the cup and reinstall the cup assembly in the freezer.

The freezer isn't making alot of ice. Can the hose behind the ice maker freeze?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

When a refrigerator slows down ice production it is usually the result of poor air-flow through the evaporator coils. The poor air-flow is due to ice build up on the evaporator coils. The ice build up happens because the unit is not defrosting properly or the evaporator fan is not running at full speed.

To answer your question "Can an Ice-maker tube freeze?" Yes, they can and do freeze but when they do freeze that is caused by a defective inlet water valve that is leaking water by when it is supposed to be shut off. It can freeze if some one set the temp control to MAX cold. Additionally when they do freeze and the Ice-maker cycles the plastic hose on the back of the unit pops out of the ice maker tube and each cycle starts porting ice maker fill water on the floor.

This may sound odd.. but. Perform a manual defrost by removing the freezer contents and directing a fan into the freezer compartment for just over 2 hours. (Makes a water mess so do not leave it unattended) The return the unit to normal service and after 8 hours start watching the amount of ice produced. (Should be normal for 2 days!) If after 2 days the ice production slows again you have an automatic defrosting problem that is causing the ice build up on the evaporator coils.

If you need any more assistance please include your complete model number in any future responses.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

My ice maker is taking too long to make ice

Good day,
2 basic causes for that.
One is the freezer temperature is too warm. You'll need a thermometer to check that. The temp should be ideally 0 to + 4 degrees. Higher than that and production will start to slow. At 20 degrees production will completely quit.

The second cause could be the thermostat im bedded in the ice maker itself. It would require a complete disassembly of the ice maker. It is a round disc with 2 prongs sticking out. Unless your real handy you might ask someone at the appliance parts house for assistance in replacing it.

On the other hand, if production is slow simply because the cubes have become small, then, it would either be the water valve on the bottom back of the machine starting to restrict up and needing replaced, or the water supply from the house has become feeble and needs either to be replaced or the fittings connecting it to the house supply corroded up.

Small production of ice? What should be the normal production of ice?

The way I understand how Hoshizaki machines work, the model number is usually what the unit will produce, in pounds of ice. Their manual states: "Approximate production/ 24 hours @ 70 degrees air/ 50 degrees water (incoming)" So, yours should be producing 450 pounds a day, approimately. Since I can not pin point your exact model, I found one that is close. It states: "Ice Production per cycle: 6.6 pounds, 360 pcs." Again, it is not you exact machine. Their web site does not show this model either. So this is the best info I can get for you. Hope this helps.

I bought a replacement for my Whirl Poor Refrigerator's icemaker and installed it about a year ago. It has worked perfectly until recently. It is still working but does not produce as much ice as it did...

generally low ice production can be attributed to a couple of things. first and most importantly is temperature problems in order for the ice maker to pmake ice at a consistant rate the temp has to be 0 farenheight if it is not it causes slow production. altho you may have the temps set low enuf you need to check to be sure the coils underneath the unit are clean. also monitor door openings and heavy usage.
The next thing that can cause slow ice production is a bad temp sensor in the ice maker itself. this part is replaceable and is inexpensive usually less than 20.00 dollars.
One last thing that can happen is the icemaker may be cycling twice to get enough water to make a full mold of ice this is very rare and you would notice occasional hollow ice cubes or very small cubes.
Hope thi info helps you out thanks Peyton

Have an LG LFX25960TT refrigerator with in door ice maker. The ice maker only makes 2 to 3 ice cubes at a time. (Too slow for my family's needs.) It appears like it doesn't get enough time to fill. Is...

Check to make sure the water supply to the refrig is good and the inlet screen where the water line connects to the refrig is clean. You can change the amount of water fill by pressing the button on the left side of the ice maker. (indicator lights above button show setting) Selecting "Ice Plus" on front of dispenser panel increases ice production for a 24 hour period. Ice maker should produce 6 cubes per cycle, aprox.. 100 to 130 cubes in 24 hours depending on freezer compartment temp, room temp, number of door openings, etc.
