Question about DeLonghi Perfecta ESAM5500 Fully Automatic Bean to Cup Coffee Maker
I ran the descaler liquid through twice, and rinsing function produces only drips. Then I soaked the diffuser. No change. Then I soaked the diffuser in descaler - no change. When the machine turns on and goes through a rinse cycle and when it makes coffee , hardly any coffee is produced because the water is not coming out. the motor that does the rinse function has the same sound and does not seem to be strainging and the tubes in the back are not leaking. What is causing the water to not come out?

I had this same problem and fixed it according to a solution posted here by joebauer and it worked perfectly. He explains it better, but basically there is a brass part in the back of the machine (behind the U-shaped heating element) that gets stuck in the open position so that no water can get through. You have to remove it and give it a good whack on a hard surface. You know if it is unstuck by trying to blow air through the tube and it is not able to pass through. Make sure you unplug your machine before taking it apart.

I have the same issue. I have tried replacing the O-rings in the water heating element and the steamer, and it still does this. For a temporary fix, try running the steamer for about 30 seconds, or until it is running "full steam", and immediately make your coffee. This has worked for my machine for the last 4 months. It is used about 5-10 times a day at my work, and this still is working. I believe the issues is it is losing pressure somewhere, and the water cannot travel through the infuser. I have taken apart my machine more than 10 times, and I still cannot find out where the pressure loss is. I know this is a temporary fix, but it will work until something more permanent can be done. Hope this helps!
