The brake bias valve can cause your symptom. Are the outer part of the brake calipers able to slide in and out freely .Jack it up take a wheel off and get someone to push on the brake pedal while you check for correct movement.Lube the slides so it is easier for calipers to return.a chunck of 4x2 wood is useful if you find them too hard to move by hand

SOURCE: 04 free star soft pedal has new master cylinder pads and rotors

the master cyl must be filled and bled before install.after installing new bled master cyl, bleed all calipers.once you are sure there is no air left in system then you will need a scan tool to perform a abs service bleed.if you do perform the abs service bleed with a scan tool the brake pedal will be soft and start to fade.

Have you had anyone try to clean and adjust the rear brakes? You will need a shop to scan the van for ABS codes first to cure the ABS light.

My brake pedal went to the floor, brought it in...They told me it was the Master Cylinder. They changed it and put in a brand new master cylinder but it still seems like the brake pedal goes further t

The extra brake travel can be;
1. air still in the brake lines and need bleeding
2. if there are brake drums on the rear they may be out of adjustment
3. if there are warped brake disc or caliper problems that will add to the brake travel

2001 ford windstar lx master cylinder new i replaced but abs n brake light come on

Needs to have code reset for abs by a obd2 code reader with abs or find a parts house or shop that will reset it. Brake light coming on did you bleed the master cylinder out by connecting rubber lines to ths plastic insert ******* then acuating the master cylinder til all air is pumped out of master cylinder if that was not done then you will need to bleed all brakes until air is out of system that should turn brake light off

How to replace the brake master cilinder

Remove the lines running to it, and then unbolt it from whatever surface it's mounted to.
You will need to BENCH BLEED your NEW MASTER CYLINDER.
This can be done by taking some rubber hose and putting it from the holes for the lines, back into he reservoir on the new master cylinder. Make sure the new master cylinder is full of fluid. Put the master cylinder in a bench vice, and press in the plunger repeatedly with a screwdriver until no more air bubbles come out.

Then put the new master cylinder back to the mounting surface, and reattach the lines. Bleed the entire brake system.

My brakes do not stop and go all the way to the floor

You 're brake master cylender has failed.
How to change it.

Use a flare wrench and remove the two brake lines.
Then remove the the two nuts that hold it to the fire wall.
Then remove.
Then remove the master cylinder reservoir because your
going to have to put it on the new one.
Drain out any brake fluid from it.
In stall the reservoir on the new master cylinder.
Now you'll have to prime the new master cylinder.
Put the master cylinder in a vise and put brake fluid into it.
Now place your fingers over the two holes that the brake line go into.
Use a large phillips screw driver and push the piston in and out about 10 times.
But, do it slowly. make shore to keep your fingers over the brake line holes. .
Now install it back in.
Remember to bleed your brake system when your done.
Hope this helps give feedback and good luck FixYa

Push on the brakes hard and all 4 brakes grab. push on them soft and its just the back two that grab. master cylinder is junk. do you have to bleed the brakes after puttin a new one on?

Yes you will need to bleed the brakes.
If you have placced on new master cylinder, then you will have to bleed the cylinder first, and then the brakes after that.

Brake pedal will not depress

Let the fluid out of the master cylinder or from a line. If the pedel  then goes down w/o the fluid, then the booster is working ok. Rebuild or replace the master cylinder.
