SOURCE: on the file to download http://www.sandisk.com/Assets/File/Downloads/firmware/e200fw01.00.12.exe

Go ahead and do this, in case the DB is corrupted:
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx

What is dfu mode and how do you do it

You enter dfu mode so iTunes can detect an iPhone in recovery mode and then prompt you to restore. You will lose all your files when you do this but if you have a backup in iTunes then you're good to go. To enter dfu mode, just press both power and home buttons simultaneously for exactly 10 seconds. After 10 seconds, release the power but keep holding home then wait until iTunes detects your iphone and prompt you to restore.

My iphone is unable to update and restore and I got error code 1015.

This usually happens when you hve problems downgrading firmware or jailbreaking.
Here is a guide to fix it.

To fix this error, you will have to make a couple of changes in your system's "host" file, by pointing it towards Cydia server instead of Apple's. Also this is not it, you may also receive another error during restore: 1004, or 1015 from iTunes saying: "The iPhone [you name] iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1004)". The following step by step instructions will guide you on how to fix these errors so that you can restore any of your new iOS devices like iPhone 4 or 3GS to iOS 4.0.1 successfully.
Step 1: Download the required iOS 4.0.1 ipsw firmware files from here.
Step 2: Put your device into DFU mode (not recovery mode).
  • Connect your iPhone to your computer.
  • Turn iPhone off.
  • Start iTunes.
  • Hold Power and Home buttons together for 10 seconds or so.
  • Release Power button but keep holding the Home button until your computer recognizes a new USB device.
  • iTunes will now recognize your iPhone.
Note: Your iPhone screen at this time should be blank (black in color), if not, then you are most likely in Recovery Mode, not DFU mode.
Step 3: Before you proceed, you must make sure that you have your SHSH blobs saved on Cydia for the firmware version you restoring or downgrading to. If you don't have your SHSH files saved, you cannot downgrade or restore to iOS 4.0.1.
So now, what we will do is to trick iTunes into thinking that it is watching Apple servers, while in real, we are going to change the address to Saurik's server.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ and locate "hosts" file.
hostsfileinwindows.png Mac OS X users can get to "/etc/" directory by going through "Go -> Go to Folder" from Finder.
hostsfileinosx.png
  • Open this "hosts" file in Notepad (for Windows) or TextEdit (for Mac OS X) and add this
74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com line as shown in the screenshot below:
21.png Now simply save this file and you are good to go!
NOTE for Windows 7 and Vista: Start "Notepad" with Administrator privileges by right clicking on "Notepad" app, and click on "Run as Administrator" option.
NOTE for Mac OS X: Make sure you have full read and write access on your account when you are saving the host file. If it still throws permission error, simply copy the host file to desktop, make the required changes, and then replace it with the original file in "/etc/" directory.
Step 4: You will now have to restore your iPhone to the firmware you downloaded in Step 1. Click on your phone icon from the sidebar in iTunes. Now press and hold left "alt" (option) button on Mac (Left "Shift" button on Windows) on the keyboard and then click on "Restore" (Not "Update" or "Check for Update") button in the iTunes and then release this button.
itunes.png This will make iTunes prompt you to select the location for your downloaded firmware file. Select that ipsw file and click on "Open".
Step 5: Now sit back and enjoy as iTunes does the rest for you. This will involve a series of automated steps. Be patient at this stage and don't do anything silly. Just wait while iTunes installs firmware on your iPhone. Your iPhone screen at this point will be showing a progress bar indicating installation progress. Now at some point, iTunes will probably throw 1004 or 1015 error at you. This is normal, just ignore this error as the firmware has already been successfully installed on the device.
iphone42.png Step 6: Your iPhone at this point will be stuck in Recovery Mode, showing that "Connect to iTunes" screen. To exit your device from Recovery Mode, download this program called TinyUmbrella (Windows / Mac). Run it and the click on "Kick Device Out of Recovery" button. Your device will now restart normally.
iphone43.png This is it, you should now be able to jailbreak and unlock your device.

My iphone shows only white screen when i try to power up

hi,
try this solution...
1. Put phone into Recovery mode (NOT DFU)

While the phone is off, hold down the Home button and immediatly plug it into your computer. Or else.
2. From a command prompt (Start>Run>"cmd"), change to the directory where you extracted irecovery, and enter irecovery -s followed by:
1. setenv boot-args 2
2. setenv auto-boot false
3. saveenv
4. /exit

Keep this window open for use later on!
3. Run greenpois0n - it will guide you to enter DFU mode, then it will stop on a white screen after you click "Jailbreak".

It should say "Jailbreak Complete!" and NOT "Jailbreak Failed!" next to the progressbar at the bottom.
4. Extract the iBSS from your custom PwnageTool image (firmware.ispw/Firmware /dfu/iBSS.BoardID.RELEASE.dfu) into your irecovery folder.

You can use WinRAR or another ZIP extractor to do this. IPSW files are really just ZIP files!
5. At a command prompt: irecovery -f iBSS

iBSS should be replaced with the name of the iBSS that you just extracted from the pwnagetool image - ie iBSS.n88ap.RELEASE.dfu
6. At a command prompt: irecovery -s
1. setenv boot-args 0
2. saveenv
3. go image decrypt 0x41000000
4. go jump 0x41000040
5. /exit

At the "go jump" point your device should appear to reboot. Whether it goes back to a white screen or shows the Connect to iTunes screen depends on the firmware image used.
7. Restore your PwnageTool cooked or CFW firmware from iTunes.

I recently updated the firmware for my ipod touch [2nd gen] and now its stuck on the apple logo and won't do anything else. When i try restarting it, it just goes to the apple logo and then does nothing....

So you've upgraded to the latest 3.1.3 version.
You can still try to put your iPod to DFU mode, that way, iTunes (from your computer) will recognize your device. See link to my instructions below.
But since you have the latest firmware (3.1.3), the only thing you can do, once your device is in DFU mode is to repeat the update. You MUST NOT follow the rest of the rest of the instruction about restoring to 3.1.2, coz that might be fatal. Just REPEAT THE UPDATE. REPEAT THE UPDATE. And wait patiently until your iPod opens normally.
See complete instruction here.

I tried to jailbreak my phone and it turned black and wont turn on can u help me?...

This state is called DFU ( Device Firmware Update) mode where you can downgrade and upgrade the device's firmware.
Just continue with the jailbreak.
If the jailbreak cannot continue, download LibUSB asa tis helps.

Hello,

Support for the Sansa Clip support information is on next site:

Correct link for updating the Clip's firmware:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/300/related/1

When MANUALLY installing firmware:
Check the version of your player to have the matching firmware download for the player, as described in the updating firmware link.

Going to the Sandisk forum site for the Clip firmware download:
http://forums.sandisk.com/sansa/board/message?board.id=clip&thread.id=15109
Note: read the instructions how to perform the firmware update.
1. Choose the correct version for the player.
2. Connection mode in Windows should be automatic, when not recognized in Windows or with MAC and Linux use MSC mode ***** .
3. Extract the zip file on the computer first.
4. Next put the unzipped file on the player in the root directory.
5. Disconnect the player.
6. Restart the player: the firmware update should restart now.

*****Note:
Switching to MSC mode for Sansa Clip:

Method 1: through the menu
1. From the Main Menu, select Settings > USB Mode.
2. Select Auto Detect, MTP or MSC.
Method 2: forcing, using the buttons / switches
1. Turn device OFF.
2. Slide the Hold switch down to Lock (orange color showing).
3. Press and hold the center button while connecting the device to the PC.

Iphone will not restore

Try restoring in DFU mode, which is different than recovery mode. I happened to stumble across it while trying to restore an iPhone 3G that a user unplugged in the middle of the 3.1 update. It kept showing an error of 1611 or 13 and wouldn't restore in recovery mode. I found this DFU mode option and the restore worked fine. The DFU mode keeps the iPhone OS from loading, so you don't run into as many compatibility problems. Go into DFU mode, then try restoring the phone and see if that works.
http://techierambles.blogspot.com/2009/09/restore-iphone-with-error-13-or-1611-in.html
To enter DFU mode:
1. Connect your iPhone to your computer
2 . Turn iPhone off. You may have to hold the power and home buttons down together to force the phone off
3. Once the phone is off, hold the power and home buttons together for 10 seconds exactly
4. After 10 seconds, release the power button but keep holding home until the computer recognizes that a USB device was plugged in
5. iTunes should detect your iPhone correctly, and also allow you to restore to the factory default settings
