I also have the asus m2n-mx se motherboard. It was installed in my computer several months ago and has been working just fine. However in the last week or so almost every time I attempt to play a movie, or god forbid a video game, I get the blue screen of death and my system restarts. Sometimes though I don't even get the blue screen of death, it just reboots.

Now, I have tried to update the bios and was able to from the cd but the system seem to get hung up when I attempt to do the update through the internet. Updating from the cd has not fixed the situation at all.

Please help! I'm at my wits end!

First off, try just one mem stick in slot 1, if the m/c comes up with bad bios checksum then you have a faulty bios, updating this to v0403 should sort out your problems. oh but make sure when you update you dont have any mem in slot 1 because it wont work. if you still having problems then take it back to where you bought it from and get a different board.

The manual for your motherboard states:

For dual-channel memory configuration (2), you may:

• install identical DIMMs in all four sockets OR

• install an identical DIMM pair in DIMM_A1 and DIMM_B1 (yellow

sockets) and another identical DIMM pair in DIMM_A2 and

DIMM_B2 (black sockets)

* Always use identical DDR2 DIMM pairs for dual-channel model. For

optimum compatibility, we recommend that you obtain memory modules
from the same vendor.

My pc is hanging while playing games...pls any one solve my problem? i cant play games in my pc.. when i starts to play my pc starts hanging... i formated my xp os.....then also no changes......yesterday...

It seems like you have either a thermal problem (processor cooler defective, undersized or incorrectly mounted) or a defective power supply. I'm about 90% sure that the problem is thermal.

Grapghics card or ram?

No need for extra memory, your onboard video card is truly ancient- replace it with the best PCI-E video card you can buy.

You can call Asus and buy a new CD at 1-812-282-2787 US.

ASUS P5VD2-MX SE recognizes only up to 2500MB RAM

Hi,

Actually you are doing better than you think, According to your MB specs it is only supposed to hold a max of 2GB (1GB per slot). The updated BIOS may be allowing for the additional 500MB.

If you would like to verify, here is a link to the manual for your MB:

P5VD2-MX SE Manual

See page viii.

Thanks for using Fixya.
