SOURCE: dyson dc14 died, no power after burning smrll

It sounds like the motor has overheated and has now been irrepairable damaged.
The motor has a built in over-current trip to protect itself (and you if it seriously overheated and caught fire). This normally automatically resets itself, however if the motor has just about had it, the moment it is switched on, it just trips again.

The primary cause of motors overheating is that the filters are not cleaned or replaced frequently enough. Dont be fooled by Dyson's "lifetime filters". They need to be regularly cleaned and replaced when necessary.

Replacement motors are avaible on eBay for about £25, however repalcing one requires good DIY skills and tools.

Have a look at www.dysonmedic.com and see if you feel you can tackle it yourself. If not, take it to a repair shop or call the Dyson helpline.

Same problem here. We noticed a loss of suction for about 5 minutes and the suction stopped. Beater bar still rotates but ZERO suction.

SOURCE: We have a dyson dc14 and the beater bar stopped

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

Check that the brush control dial is in the centre position when the machine is locked upright. When you release the head and pull the handle back this dial should mopve forward to the on position. Once here, the brush bar should turn.

If this doesnt resolve the problem, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards
Darran

SOURCE: No suction on wand of Dyson DC14 Animal

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

It sounds as though the wand handle is blocked. To check this, remove the wand/hose from the machine as if you were going to use it to vacuum the stairs. Switch the machine on and test the suction at the top of the wand handle with your hand. If the suction from the wand is poor, remove the wand from the hose and test the suction again from the top of the hose. If the suction here is good, then you know the wand handle is blocked. If the suction is poor at the hose, you can remove the hose from the machine and clear any blockages here.

For the full blockage procedure please visit the support section on our website at www.dyson.com.

Kind regards

Did you drop the handle on the floor? or against the wall. If the turn on switch is in the handle, it can dislocate the power source. best to take it in to a repair shop, but sometimes it's an easy fix if you are mechanically inclined.

Working well, switched off, moved downstairs, wouldn't restart- no power. leads and fuse checked with no problems?

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14 All Floors. Like most Dyson cleaners, your DC14 is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the cleaner if it starts to overheat. This is often due to a blockage, or because the filter needs a wash. The easiest way to check for and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=626&product=DC14-ALLFLOORS_US

The correct way to wash the filter is shown in the video linked below. The filter should be washed in cold water without any detergent, at least once every 3-6 months. Always ensure it's totally dry before replacing it - this may take up to 12 hours.

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1461&product=DC14-ALLFLOORS_US

By clearing any obstructions and washing the filter, you should be able to resolve your issue without further assistance. However, if you've followed these steps and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you and recommend the best course of action.

Kind regards,

Power head does not work on extension hose - I have tried to clear every thing from the hose- the hose works fine, but the vacuum controlled power head brush will not rotate.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties using the turbinehead on your DC14. If you've checked the hose for blockages, the issue may lie with the turbinehead itself. The following guide shows how to dismantle it and check for obstructions:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=879&product=DC14-ANIMAL_US

Hopefully this should resolve the issue. However, if you're still concerned, please get in touch with us directly so one of our experts can run though some troubleshooting over the phone with you, and provide further assistance. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

I have a DC14 upright. When the Dyson is upright and switched on it runs fine. Whrn I lower the handle to start hoovering, the Dyson makes a loud noise

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. The brush control of your cleaner includes a safety feature which makes a ratcheting sound to warn you when the brushbar is jammed. For a step-by-step illustrated guide demonstrating how to check for and remove obstructions from the cleaner head and brushbar, please see the link below:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=669&product=DC14-ALLFLOORS_US

By removing any threads, hair, or other obstructions which may be preventing the brushbar from spinning freely, you should be able to resolve your problem. However, if you've tried this and are still having difficulties, please get in touch with us directly so one of our experts can run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

My dyson dc14 wont turn on at all

Hi I would suggest you first check the Fuse in the plug. This is quite common.

If after chnaging the fuse the machine still doesnt work then please come back to us. Let us know that you have checked the fuse andthe machine still wont switch on.

Im confident it will only be the fuse. Unless you have had strange noises or funny smells coming from the machine.

My dyson dc14 suddenly stopped working while vacuuming. What should I do?

Check mains fuse, if OK, suspect mains cable broken where it enters the machine. Wriggle the cable with the machine switched on.
If it's done a lot of work, the motor brushes could be worn out.

Dyson DC04 not working

Have you trod on the cable at all, sometimes the cable breaks inside the sheathing, test by switching on and wiggling cable where it enters machine, if it starts then thats your problem, easy to fix, disassemble switch, cut off and discard 6 inches of cable then reattach the reamaining.
