Question about Acer Aspire R7
I am trying to open up Microsoft word, but every time I try it says "Word can not open because a dialog box is open. Please close the dialog box and try again." How do I close the dialog box?

SOURCE: I am completely unable to
Note: This solution is a complete steal from another MS Office support forum, but I'll take credit for it anyway:
With all Office apps closed Use Start=>Search and locate the file opa12.dat and recycle it, then restart the PC, start one of the
Office 2007 trial edition apps and see if you can activate it.
Note: You may need to use an exhaustive search, including hidden files, etc.
If you can't locate the file thru the use of Start=>Search:
1. Click Start, click Run, type %AllUsersprofile%\Application
Data\Microsoft\Office\Data, and then click OK.
2. Locate the Opa12.dat file in the Data folder.
3. Right-click the Opa12.dat file, and then click Delete.
Important Do not delete the Opa12.bak file.
4. Close the folder.
5. Start a 2007 Office program to start the 2007 Office Activation Wizard.
Note When you uninstall the 2007 Office product, the license file is not removed. Additionally, the license file is not overwritten when you reinstall the 2007 Office product. By deleting the Opa12.dat file, you force the license file to be recreated.
(info found in the MS Knowledgebase)
After that start Word or other Office app and the activation wizard is prompted and you should be able to activate.

Try changing the scanning resolution before running the scanner. There's usually a utility program with every scanner you purchase that allows you to do that.
Unless you're a professional photographer who needs to blow up a standard size picture to a poster or bill board size, you may only need 100-200 dpi resolution.
This will create smaller files that may overflow your screen size, but are manageable.

SOURCE: My PC doesn't load
Restart computer. Watch closely at the bottom of the screen for an F command.
This F command will allow to enter setup.
When computer is loading, start pressing F12 repeatedly until setup is opened.
When setup opens, you'll see a file menu that runs across the top of the screen. It will start from the left and move to the right - press F9. When prompted, select "restore default settings". Move to each file menu and press F9 and set "default settings".
When you come to the Exit menu, do the same thing, then select the Exit Menu, and choose the "Exit Saving Settings" option.
Once it exits, it will automatically restart and begin the loading process into Windows (or your operating system).
If the OS does not load, you will need to re-enter setup: under the file menu, search for an option that will allow you to enable a second F command which should be F5 or F10. Once this is done, go to exit, and select "exit saving settins".
The computer will begin loading, but you will want to restart the computer - watch again at the bottom of the screen for the new F command - remember what it is when you are in setup, and begin pressing it as before with the F12 command - the F5 (F10) will bring you to an option menu for starting the computer - select the "start in safe mode" option.
If the computer does not load in safe mode, you will need to format the hard drive and re-install the Operating System.
