In Windows and on a Mac, you can use an icon shaped like an audio speaker to adjust the computer's volume or mute the sound output completely.

Whichever operating system you are running, it is possible to remove the volume icon from the screen.

If you have removed the volume icon accidentally, you may not have a convenient way to adjust your computer's sound volume.

Restore the sound icon to resume using it to adjust the volume or mute your computer's sound output.

Click the "System Preferences" icon on the dock.
If you have removed this icon from the dock, click the Apple icon at the top of the screen, then click "System Preferences."


Click the "Sound" icon in the "System Preferences" window.

I just download and install Realtek_Audio_V51005904_V6015904 driver from asus website but still got no sound in my speaker or head phone,no sound.



click start control panel sounds and audio devices select advanced there might be a tick in the mute box untick it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound,video and game controllers you might see a yellow question exclamation mark? ! or a red X Right click to reinstall drivers

the sound drivers might not have been installed for the sound card
if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it

I was messing with the sound settings and now every sound or music that comes out of the speakers sound like chipmunks (high pitch voice) even the even sounds weird.. And I dont remember or know how to fix...


Right-click the desktop and select Personalization then click Sounds and change the Sound Scheme to non,that is for windows 7.

For XP Go to Start / Settings / Control Panel and then select "Sounds and Audio Devices"

Now click on the "Sounds" tab as shown and select the "Start Windows" sound also as shown.
Where it says "Windows XP Start up" change this to "None" and you will be OK

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Sound.
2. In the Sound window click on the Sounds (tab).
3. You will see a box with a list of items one being Asterisk.
4. Click on Asterisk, or any item in that box, and then click Test.
5. You should hear audio coming from your system.
6. If the clip was not long enough select another item, and then click Test.
7. Determine whether or not the distorted audio is present.

Configure the speakers

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Sound.
2. In the Sound window right-click your Speakers and select Configure Speakers.
3. Follow the on-screen setup, and Test the available configurations.
4. Identify whether or not one configuration appears to have less of an "echo" than others.
5. If the issue is resolved by modifying the configuration then you do not need to do anything further.




These fixes only work for windows and not any third party software.So if you have a sound card,you will have to use the app for it.

After researching the information online, I have put together a few steps to disable the Double-clicking sound(Navigation) in web browsers.

Please follow the below steps to disable the Double-clicking sound:

1) Click on the Start button on the Windows 7 menu bar.
2) From the Start menu, click on Control Panel.
3)
On the Control Panel dialog, click on Hardware and Sound.
4)
On the Hardware and Sound dialog, click on Change system sounds.
5)
On the Sound dialog, use the scroll bar until you see the event titled: Start Navigation.
6)
Click on Start Navigation.
7)
From the Sounds dropdown select None.
8)
Click OK.

Performing the above steps should disable the Double-clicking Sound.

Welcome.

Check if the sound driver is installed and up to date, follow these steps to find that.

Step 1:
  1. Click Start and then click Run.
  2. Type devmgmt.msc in the Open box, and then click OK.
  3. Check for Audio and if you see any yellow exclamation next to sound then either audio drivers are not installed or it needs to be updated.
Step 2:

To check manufacture try this.
  1. Click Start and then click Run.
  2. Type dxdiag in the Open box, and then click OK.
  3. Click the Sound tab.
  4. Under Device, look for Name, and under Driver, look for Provider.
  5. Click Exit.
Contact the manufacturer of the sound driver to request an updated sound driver.

If you dont see any problem with device manager (Step 1)
try below steps

Step 3: Use the Windows XP Sound Troubleshooter

loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution'); Windows XP includes a troubleshooting program which could help you resolve your sound issues. Start the Windows XP Sound Troubleshooter automatically or manually and then answer each question on-screen in order to try to find a resolution.

  1. Open the Control panel
  2. Open the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon.
  3. Verify the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" checkbox is checked. If this option is not available or is grayed out, skip to the next section of this document.
  4. If you were able to check this box, click ok and close out of this window and the Control Panel.
  5. Double-click the sound icon in the systray and verify that all the sound volumes are mid-way or higher.
