It sounds like your WiFi switch was somehow shut off.

hpweb_1-2_minus.gif Wireless device is turned off or disabled The power to the wireless network and Bluetooth devices is controlled by a switch or button on most computers. It is possible to accidentally bump the button and turn off the wireless service. c02230159.jpg On most computers, there is an LED light that glows blue when the wireless device is turned on and enabled, and glows orange when off or disabled. Some newer models use different a different color scheme, see the user guide for more information. To turn on and enable the wireless device, do the following:
  1. To turn on the wireless device, simply move the switch to the on position. On some computers, the switch is actually a touch point on the panel above the keyboard.
  2. To enable the wireless device, right-click the HP Wireless Assistant (disabled) icon c02448899.jpg and select Open Wireless Assistant . Click Turn On . The HP Wireless Assistant (enabled) icon c02448900.jpg will display.
  3. Or you can try pressing the Fn and the F2 keys at the same time to enable your wireless adapter.

HOW DO I TURN ON THE WIRELESS ON MY TOBISHA LAPTOP

If you're using a Toshiba laptop and you can't figure out how to enable WiFi you probably aren't alone. Thankfully there are several approaches you can take from a hardware and Windows Operating System stance to turn on your wireless connection while making sure you can properly connect to a wireless network.
Difficulty: Easy Instructions

    • 1 enable-wireless-toshiba-laptop-1.1-800x800.jpg

Look at the keyboard options on your laptop. You should see a button that looks like a small antenna. The button placement may vary from device to device. For instance, you may have a dedicated button or it may be placed much like the option circled in the picture to the left of this step.

Click on the "Windows Start Button" and Navigate to "Control Panel" then click on "Network Connections" or "Network and Sharing" depending on your version of Windows.

    • 3

Right-click on your wireless connection icon once the "Network Connections" window opens. Choose "Enable" and left-click on that option with your mouse. Wait for the wireless connection to enable.

Alternatively you can try clicking on the " Windows Start Button" and then clicking on "Connect to," where you will click on "Show all connections." When the connection window opens up, you should right-click on "Wireless Network Connection" and then choose "Enable." Now right-click on "Wireless network connections" and then choose "View Available Wireless Networks" to see if your WiFi adapter is enabled.

Hope this was helpfull

I can't turn the wireless on?

Hi - With some laptops there are a few places you need to check to see if the wifi is enabled.

1st - check to see if you have a wifi switch. Usually found on the front at one of the corners or on the side of the laptop. Make sure the switch is "On". It may also be a button on the top of the keyboard.

2nd - make sure the wireless is "enabled" in your OS. If you are using windows, go to Control Panel then Network Connections. Make sure that where the wireless card is shown as a connection it says enabled.

3rd - If the second does not work sometimes certain wifi cards will use their own utility or program to operate the wireless card functionality. This can most likely be found in All Programs. Hard to say what it would be called unless we know the type of wifi card. Try the 1st two options, if they dont work, try this. Find the program, open it and make sure that it is enabled from there.

If none of this works, try restarting the laptop.

Hi there,

There are 2 ways of which you can enable the wifi on your dell inspiron 1525:

1) Make sure the wifi catcher on the side is set to the "on" position, this can be achieved by sliding the little switch, so the line in the middle of the switch is aligned with the ' (a line) sign.

2) The next thing that you need to do is ensure that the wifi is enabled you can enable wifi by pressing "FN" (the key on the keyboard) and F2. N.B. This will only work if you have Dell quickset installed. An alternative way of doing this is by going to start > control panel > network connections, find the wifi adapter > right click > enable.

Hope this has helped slightly, add more info if it hasn't

Thanks for reading and good luck with your problem.

Good day

Wireless does not show up in Network Connections

Did you try - after switching on the "antenna switch" or WiFi hardware - to "Enable" the WiFi adapter, under (XP) Start - Settings - Network Connections - LAN or High-Speed Internet - Wireless Network Connection? (select, right click and select Enable)?

p.s. Once your WiFi hardware is recognized (by Win XP) there is (should be) always a "Wireless Network Connection" in your Network Connections, enabled or disabled, active or not.
