Mac OSX 10.4.11 won't print to Ricoh Aficio CL2000n network printer
Okay, this is what worked for me...
1) Remove the printer from your printers by going to System Preferences, then click on Print and Fax. Highlight the printer and click the "minus" button below it to remove the printer.
2) Reset your printer by restoring it to factory settings. On my printer, you would do that by turning off the printer, wait a few seconds, hold down the two buttons on top of the printer, turn on the printer, then continue holding the buttons until the red "Alert" light begins to flash. Then let go. The printer will reset itself and then start back up again.
3) Go back to System Preferences and hit the "plus" button to add the printer. When the next windows opens, make sure the "Default" button is highlighted and wait about 15 seconds for your printer to show up.
4) Highlight the printer, DON'T CHANGE THE NAME IN THE TEXT BOX, make sure the proper "Print using" driver is selected, then click "Add."
5) That should add the printer as your default printer. Just make sure you don't change the name of the printer either in Leopard or by going into your printer's configuration utility. Everything needs to remain as default!
With this printer, I used to try to change the name of the printer when I was setting it up to something more familiar like "Network Color Laser Printer" or something like that, but after about two days of working, it would suddenly not work printing from my Mac anymore (although the Windows computers could print to it without a problem). Now, after leaving everything with its default name, my Mac always connects to the printer.
Anyway, just try it out-- what have you got to lose?
