Re: sony psp

Hi Bobby boy,

I run the Playstation Clinic and can give it a try at repair. Remove the battery from the PSP as soon as possible and keep it out until you get it repaired. My basic fee is $25 plus shipping. I will inspect and clean up the insides, and UMD laser for you. Conatct me at i will give you details of the service. I do recommend if your not Technicaly experienced with the details of the PSP, it is not good to mess with the internals.

Hi well my psp's button "x" and "up" arrow went haywire :( . My x button has been having problems for sometime now - it normally works but at times when I press the x button more than...

If the unit is under warranty, call Sony 1-877-899-SONY. If not, or you just don't care we read on:

1: Remove the battery

2:Remove warranty sticker from behind the battery

3:Remove the 2 screws from behind the battery, and the 2 screws from the other side of the back.

4:Remove the 2 screws from the top of the PSP

5:Remove the single screw from the bottom of the PSP

6:Now you will need something to pry the front bezel off. I would use a tool called a splunger, but anything similar will do

7:Now starting on the "R" button side, gently pry the casing up and remove the bezel.

8: Check your "X" button for noticeable dirt or stickiness. Use a Cotton Swab with 99.9% rubbing Alcohol and clean all your buttons that are sticking. Give the unit some time to dry (5-10 mins)

9: Reassemble and test

Turn off the PSP. Get a a cotton swab. Wet one tip with water. Using that wet tip work around the sticky keys.

My psp volume button will not work can you help but its only the one to turn it up not down

When this happens, it's because the volume button on the inside is messed up. Usually it's because it's dirty or sticky and sticks down [or presses itself]. You can try opening it and cleaning under the volume button. If that doesn't work, you may need to replace the home/volume/start/select circuit ribbon cable. If you're not comfortable opening it, check the following company -- they would repair something like this for $29

The direction buttons on my son's PSP have stopped working. All other buttons work. Is there anything I can do?

You can send it to Sony so they can fix or replace it, if it's still covered by the warranty, if not you'll have to pay.

This occurs sometimes when you get either dust or some other substance built up inside of the system under the button. If you spilled some sort of liquid on it that would definitely cause it.

Either way, you can open the system up and clean off the dust or sticky substance, but I would not recommend doing it yourself unless you are familiar with these devices. It is best to take it to a local computer or gaming console repair shop. I am sure they would not charge you much to fix it. If you feel that you would like to try it yourself then here is a link that will show you step-by-step(with pictures) how to take the system apart.

Spilled liquid on PSP

Try putting it in a bag of rice for a day or so, because rice absorbs moisture, so it might draw out any water still inside. Hope this helps.

My screen crack plus the ink spill

have it replaced then, there is no way to repair the broken screen's fairly expensive though, it will cost you about 40-50-60% the cost of a new PSP(that would be an OK price)...

My psp wont read umd discs

You have probably only 2 options on this one.
1. Try using compressed air. If there is anything keeping the disc from being read, i.e. dust on the lens or some other obstruction, you don't want to touch the laser. Open up the UMD tray and spray out the inside of the tray. This will remove anything that might be causing the system to stop reading discs.
2. If that doesn't work, then the only other option would be to call Sony. It won't be fun if you're out of warranty. The system does carry a 1 year limited warranty, but this should be covered. Oh, Sony can look up the date of purchase if you don't have your receipt, so don't 'fold' if they tell you that you need the receipt. Just tell them to look it up by the serial number.

A problem with my psp

Use lighter fluid. It works perfectly. Rubbing alcohol also works well, but lighter fluid works the best and won't take off paint or anything on your psp. Just be sure not to let any lighter fluid get inside the psp. Put some lighter fluid on a paper towel or cloth and rub the sticky adhesive off.
