That would need to be done by a prfessional in a clean room with calibration tools, you would not be able to do that at home.

How to recover data from dead sata hard drive

Two things die on most hard drives, The really serious one is that the spindle motor coil opens up and you have a dead motor. But, most of the issues with hard drives ends up being the controller board dying. Look at the model number of your drive and see if you can find a good used one on Ebay that has the exact same model number. They have to match! After getting the same drive usually at a bargain price you then swap the controller boards and they try out your drive. Almost 100% success for me as I have done this many times for friends, family and others who had a drive that died for no reason. Now, if you have dropped your drive then kiss it good bye as the head structure will be totally destroyed! I have taken those apart and removed the platters and put them into a matching drive, this is not for the novice user to do. but its is worth the try if the data is very important. good luck

How do you put new motor in ex hard drive ?

The motor is inside the sealed hard drive case. Replacing the mechanical motor is impossible without a clean room. Dust will destroy the drive. Try and transfer the data off of the drive as soon as possible. Then check the warranty status here:

I have a st380020A and it is not running, I lost a lot information, what can I do for recovery all my information on it

when you say its not running you mean there is no spinning
sound of the platters ? or the unit doesn't work by way of not
being recognized by the computer ? , if the platters are not
spinning the unit's drive motor is burned out , if the unit is
not being recognized by the computer means the platters
are not spinning up to the required RPM , you have 2 choices
1. you can obtain an exact match HDD or to make sure you are
within close proximity to the last 4 digits of the serial number
to harvest workable components to transfer to the broken HDD
to retrieve your Data , or 2. send your HDD to an authorized
specialist in Data recovery , there are many listed online to
choose from .

Bad Hard drive

Hi,
if your HD don't had a head crash you will have a chance to copy your data to a new HD.
You need exactly the same disk with exactly the same controll PCA revision. Take a look at ebay or a second hand dealer.
In case you get one, built the new contoll PCA into your dead HD.
Be very carfull about foil cables and connectors between the HD case and the PCA.

I had a similar problem with a blown motor driver chip in a Maxtor drive and changed the PCA. All worked fine and I could save the data.

Good luck !

There are also companies who are specialized for data recovery but the are very expensive.
